So I'm starting to wonder if I have some sort weird taste buds or something, because so many juices that people rave about tend to taste "soapy" to me! Whether it's upfront or just an aftertaste, it happens all the time. Sometimes it's perfumey or waxy too. The majority of strawberry flavors are waxy to me.
The most recent ones that I've tried are MYEE and NOLA from Lane Cove Vapor. MYEE had a horrible soapy after taste, and NOLA so far just taste like creamy soap! This is really disappointing because I love RubyRoo, but so far I hate her juice. However it seems that the majority of people love it!
So does anyone else seem to have this same problem as me? I know that taste is subjective, but so many juices that I've tried that were supposed to be good, are basically disgusting to me!?!?!

Try letting them air out a bit. Take off the cap and the tip, put in a cool, dark and secure space for a couple days. (Don't want kids or pets getting into them or knocking them over.) May help, won't hurt. Sometimes, especially if there's any alcohol in the mix, letting it "breathe" a bit can have a large impact on flavor.

Have you ever tried fresh cilantro in salsa and were you one of the people that said Yum!!! or Yuck!!!?

I have a similar problem with cherry flavors in juice, but love cherry candy and fruit. I really would like to have a good wild cherry lifesavers flavor, but don't think it's going to happen for me. I've had the same problem with pomegranate flavors in food and juice.

I don't like "flavors" in anything, so I mostly vape unflavored. I have to dilute flavored e-liquids a lot to make them tolerable to me. I especially dislike fruit flavors - with melon leading the pack.

Right now I am vaping Halo's 'Turkish Tobacco' diluted at a ratio of about 1:7.
Right out of the bottle it tastes like shoe leather to me. Diluted it's like a light vanilla pipe tobacco.

Taste buds and what your palate likes and what it finds detestable is about as individual as the peope who have em - so about 7.5 bn variances.
If it wasn't for that, there'd be only one global restaurant chain catering to all of humanity ( probably the wet dream of McD's CEO :D ) . Thankfully, even the most exotic dishes are but a mouseclick away.

Same with liquids. When I started out vaping, my system was so gunked up by decades of smoking that it needed massive concentrations of flavouring to get past that.

So all the measures suggested above are fair game :) . Airing, a bit more steeping, tweaking with a tiny drop of lemon juice, numbing it a bit with a drop of VG, plus, plus, plus...

Your tastebuds, you call the shots :)

I find that there's a flavouring (or more than one) that does have a perfume type taste to me. They're some of the creamy ones (not custards) but it could be a particular meringue or similar flavour that's added to some. I think perhaps Fried Cream Cakes was one, and White-Anarchist another, plus CCD Drama Swirl. There's been a few others, but they were 'despatched' PDQ.

I am highly sensitive to alcohol based flavorings. In order to determine whether or not they are an alcohol based flavor, i will smell it and if the smell is perfumey, then it has an alcohol base that needs to be evaporated off for it to become vapeable.

In order to evaporate the alcohol, I allow those juices to breathe (some for longer periods of time than others - anywhere from 1 - 3 weeks on average, depending upon how strong the perfume odor is) prior to steeping... this makes them not only vapeable, but quite good in some cases..

I've never run into "soapy" before, thank goodness.

But I do find some people can't taste or smell as well as others. For the ones which taste like perfume to you, try letting them breathe prior to your steep.. this might sort those out for you..

We apparently sense tastes and smells slightly different from each other. I've had juice flavors with floral, bitter, soapy, and unidentifiable under tastes. Alcohol will evaporate, but some of the underlying tastes don't leave.

I've never really been able to rid some juices of that objectionable taste. OTOH, quite a few vendor juices that I couldn't vape were other peoples' favorites. DK Tab is one of those. I can't deal with what I sense to be a Clove ingredient in DK Tab.

We all have a favorite list and a don't buy again list.

@Mr.Sean - About a year ago, I was shocked to discover that a Lemon Meringue Pie eliquid that I'd made about 6 months earlier...now had a horrible, nasty, soapy taste to it. When I first made it, and while vaping the first 35mLs or so, it was wonderful tasting. No way could I vape the newly found remaining 15mLs though. Poured it down the drain immediately.

I found info from Bill's Magic Vapor that said that some eliquids made with a high total flavor %, and they then age for a long time, will sometimes develop a soapy taste. Bingo! It was 1 of his HTF% recipes that I'd made. Had made it several times before and loved it, but had always vaped the whole bottle within just a few weeks. This bottle though, it had just been ignored all those months.

So, maybe the eliquids you've been getting are also made with HTF% and have been on a shelf for awhile before you got them.

I'd agree that maybe it's a flavoring issue. Some liquids I've tried aren't soapy but so strong flavored I dislike them. Trying to dilute with UNflavored may help. Some liquids have up to 20% flavoring, when I made my first flavoring it was 25 DROPS into 30 ml, and it tastes great, not too sweet but I can definitely taste it.

May also make sure your wicks/coils are clean, and aren't getting burnt. :)
