Solar Power

I've lurked and read this forum for the last two days now. Very good information!!! In fact, I don't think I would have taken the plunge without having read the information presented here. :)

In all the tips and tricks I've read about, I've not seen anything mentioned about recharging batteries with a solar recharger such as Solio. I just wondered if anyone here has had any experience with this.

I know the Solio is geared towards mp3 player and cell phone re-charging but is available with all kinds of tips to adapt to most anything digital. Let me know if anyone has tried this or knows about it, please!

Thanks for all the great info!!!!! Looking forward to being analog-free :D

The best is yet to come . . . turn the page!

It should work. The specs on that Magnesium unit are 5.5v 150ma off solar alone. That would take a long time to charge the batt, as its 2+ hours at 500ma.

The only problem is it says it has 3.7V mAh 1800 mAh batts. Unless its stepped up to 5V at the USB outlet it will not fully charge a 3.7V batt (has to be a voltage difference for current to flow).

What you would need is simply a USB charger for the PV, that you plug into the Solio UBS port, and assuming you have 5V at a reasonable amp (500ma of greater) potiental output it should work.
