Solar Powered PCC Case

That happened to catch my eye in my spam emails this afternoon ;) Any one use that or something similar? I guess I'm wondering how reliable that would be with just say the florescent type light bulbs used in an office.

Too cold to do any camping until spring time but also wondering how reliable that would be in that type of setting. Would I be able to drain it completely in a day usage? Is 12 hours of sunlight enough to keep it going?

It's 4000mah so you should'nt drain it in a day. The one reviewer says it takes 2 to 3 days to charge it up on his window sill. I'd imagine if I had it and left it charge all the time while I was using it it would go a long while till the charge was low enough to not be able to charge anything with it, if it depleted that far at all. It 'd be worth the 23 bucks to me to try it out.

The solar's probably a nice enhancement, but I can't imagine it charges at much over 100 mAh per hour in full sun (that quoted 180 is always inflated as being perfect conditions, which they never are). Fortunately, you can pre-charge it via USB and use it as a standard PCC, then use it as a solar charger when camping to enhance the charge time.

2-3 days to charge...was hoping solar power would be more efficient than that ;) Yeah for $23 it might be worth it for me to try out as well. Looks like it would come in handy as phone charger too.

I bought one of these a few months ago, looks like the same unit, but I paid a bit more ...

Keeping it on a windowsill in my kitchen, so its always charging, and I use it to charge the Elips occasionally to cycle the battery ...

Its my insurance in case of a power outage. Can't run a generator in an upstairs apartment ... :p

Yeah we were without power for two days back in November I think. Pretty bad ice storm caused that one. This thing got me through the recharging issue https://www.fasttech.com/products/1379809

FYI the mah on that is no where near what they claim...but still nice to have something like that in case the power goes out again. I found myself pretty bored for two days with no TV. Used my phone a lot as it was the only thing that worked ;) And used that to recharge my phone as well. Still would be nice to have one that uses sunlight to charge it.

I do not leave my batteries in the car in the middle of summer. They can take the heat if they are not being used or charged and if they are good quality cells in good shape. However these inexpensive devices are not designed for this kind of high temperature exposure. I wouldn't risk it.

Yeah kind of what I was thinking as well...not risk the possible danger...and be the Joe Schmoe that ends up on that 5 o'clock news. On the other hand I was thinking that solar type chargers would be ok to leave in a hot car? Maybe not leave the ecig battery in there but leave the solar charger / battery in the car? Or is it best just to not do either one?
