Solder help please!

I was thinking that the horrible taste I was experiencing in my homemade atties was the kanthal... Turns out it is the solder providing the awful flavor. It is the radio shack lead free solder.

Can you please give me a link to some solder that doesn't affect the taste of an atomizer please... Lead free of course. Thank you very much in advance

If the solder is the problem, it may be that there is some flux being left behind. Not sure a different solder will make a difference; try cleaning the solder joints real well to remove any left over flux.

I tried not using flux when I re-soldered the pos connection on my hh357 that had came loose. The same nasty flavor came through. I wil try taking a wire brush and some isopropyl to connection today to see if flavor improves.

The "rosin core" solder actually has rosin flux in the middle of the solder. Whenever you melt the solder and get a little puff of steam, that's from the flux.

Thanks Tom, I don't think I was using rosin core solder, I was using the radio shack brand lead free solder. It doesn't say rosin core. I was able to get my hh357 to not taste that way by using a minuscule amount of that solder then swabbing the joint with alcohol afterward. Thanks Tom and Buzzkilla (helped me on another thread) I don't know if it was the alcohol trick or if using less did it but a 22 dollar atty is saved!
