Hello, after spending the last couple days researching e-cigs on this site I decided to sign up. Just placed my first order at Puresmoker for the Puresmoker Ace (kr808d) startup kit. Seems like a good one for a beginner. I also purchased 4 different flavors of cartos to see what I like. Right now I don't want the hassle of dealing with atomizers and carts so I'm going with disposable cartos. I figure if I get into it I will start refilling and go from there.

Ok so a little background. I'm a soldier in the US Army currently stationed at Camp Liberty, Iraq. This is my second go around over here and after this one is over I'm out of the military, can't wait :). Anyway I decided I was gonna quit smoking once I got here. We are not allowed to drink alcohol and its always been a major reason that's contributed to falling off the wagon with previous quit attempts. We'll I've been here for 4 months now and tried to quit 5 times. All failures. When it comes down to it I really don't want to quit. I enjoy the ritual and social aspect to smoking. Plus I've been doing it for 16 years now. What I don't like is the fact I know that analogs are killing me. So recently I discovered the concept of PV's and this seems perfect for me! At some point I may upgrade to one of the models that take CR123 batteries. I get em for free in the army haha!

Anyway thought I'd say hi. Looking forward to spending time here with y'all. Out!

Stab74 welcome and Godspeed to you and your comrades at Camp Liberty! Thank you for your service!
I have a son over there now at Warhorse.
As for the e-cig it sure does help, I been smoking for over 30 years and have quit off and on over those years, always had intense cravings and anxiety which would cause me to start back up. I have been able to quit with the e-cig so hopefully it will help you as well.
Take care and you guys be careful. Come home soon!

welcome aborad! As a Military spouse I understand at least a small portion of what you're going through. My babe gave up smoking when he was on his tour - did good until he got back stateside and started going out again. He'll be joining me on the e-cig wagon as son as I send some out to him. Good luck with you experience, and stay as safe as you can :)

Did I understand you right? You get ecigs for free? At the PX or Army issue?

No I get CR123 batteries for free (ordered the ecig from puresmoker.com). I'm a commo guy, or communications soldier. Mostly I deal with computers and networking equipment but the rest of my guys in the shop work on radios. We also call CR123 bats "Surefire" batteries as we are issued them to use in Surefire weapon lights. In the commo world we call them "hub batteries". Every radio uses one for backup storage of comsec (cypto stuff) when power is off. Kinda like a 9v in an alarm clock. Anyway one of the perks to beeing a commo guy is I get free access to whatever batteries I may want. I noticed some of the 5v e-cig models work on CR123 batteries which is why I brought it up.

Anyway thanks for the welcome. Some great info here!

Haha FOB Warhorse! I spent 12 months there my first tour, 07-08! Kinda a crappy little place but there are worse. There's actually a lot of little fast food places there and a good store to get cheap pirated movies so its really not so bad, just really dusty. Thanks for the welcome!

Yes he tells me that it smells really bad and he has a lot of movies. Sadly they will not let him bring them all back with him but he says the quality is lacking.

Welcome Stab74! And thank you for your military service! Good luck with the PV! I had read that the military wants to use PVs in the field, as long as the batt light can be hidden or removed, so the enemy can't see it. Interesting that you can get these Li batts for free...seems we have to order them from China! Perhaps you can start sending them home in anticipation of the end of your tour. I agree that the 2-piece is probably best...wouldn't imagine DIY juice making would be very possible. Besides, you made a good choice for a 1st PV, and there is a ton of info on it here.

Stay safe, and let us know how things are...I'm sure many here would be very interested in how to go about vaping while on active duty.

Cheers, and a salute!

Welcome and thanks for your service. I'm a veteran of the Air Force and my spouse was a combat controller who served in Afganistan and Iraq. He now does the same job for the DOD. My youngest son did 2 tours in Iraq as a firefighter in the AF and my oldest is a naval officer currently enjoying the Persian cruise.

I remember when letters and morale calls were the only form of contact. Thank goodness for the internet!

Take care and watch you ..... I'm sure you've made a good choice. This technology is great and the flavors add to the fun!

Hi, Welcome to the eCig family of non smokers.

I'm an old Navy Man (stress on old), and my oldest son spent 8 years there as a marine.

The choices of eCigs, accessories and juices are mind boggling . It all comes down to a matter of personal choice.

I've been vaping since my mailman arrived today and I have not craved a tobacco cigarette since.

The ones we get are not the rechargeable Li-ion batts. They are one time use disposable. I noticed models such as the Prodigy V2 comes with 2 RCR123a rechargeables. Recharging is probably smarter and better for the environment but hey, I get the non rechareables for free :)
