Hey peeps, I recently bought a new mod - the ohmsmium. I'm still rockin' a phoenix v3 on it hitting mouth to lung at 20mg with a 1.8 ohm coil. I'd like to start getting into sub ohm'ing with a tank RBA. I work construction so the RBA needs to be able to take a hit from hard objects so that I don't end up with a pocket full of shards of glass and juice.

I've seen atomizers that come with an optinal metal sleeve such as the kayfun v5? Can anyone recommend some other RBAs that have a similar metal sleeve that are bullet proof?

Also some advice on where to start to get my feet wet in sub-ohm coils would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Fwiw...... the solid steal body tank don't really take a hit better than glass body tanks..... yeah the tank doesn't Crack. From a false but it will dent and it will pop the threads from a fall.... my steal kayfun tank leak more than the plastic and glass.

I find the best gear for hard duty is small gear.... small mod and low profile tank.

I suggest a squonk box and dripper combo. For your type of duty.

Glass inserts are easily breakable. Polycarbonate clear inserts are what you need for situations where an atomizer gets dropped or bumped.

Kayfun Lite Plus V2 is very popular with MTL vapers. It's my go to MTL tank.

The Kayfun and most other atomizers come with metal inserts and they are all stainless steel, but it's hard to tell the juice level if you don't have a window.

You can subohm with most any atomizer. It's coil size, number of coil wraps, and wire gauge that work together to achieve lower resistance levels. On a Kayfun I get .8 ohm with 10 wraps of SS316 and a 2mm coil diameter. It sounds like you are wanting something more than a Kayfun for sub ohm, though.

It's airflow that makes bigger clouds. Kayfun V5 is a dual purpose atomizer that goes from MTL to full flow air channels.

I work with machinery all day, keep my mod in my front jeans pocket all day and I appreciate the toughness of all metal tanks. My favorite combo right now is a Pico 75 with this Rose V3 clone running at around 20 watts. I coil it using 27 gauge SS at about 0.6 ohms. This wouldn't be sub-ohm in Kanthal, but IMO resistance is a minor part of the whole picture anyway. If you want to run this puppy at higher power with thicker wire it will do it and that will lower the resistance. Keep in mind also this is a single coil atty and if you use two of these coils in an atty that will halve the combined resistance (and require more power and more juice per drag).

The Rose atty wicking is just about bullet proof once you get it right (never leaks and doesn't dry hit easily) which I didn't find hard to figure out. The JFC is easy, you just twist the DT, screwing the JFC open or closed in a couple of turns. Close it and it pretty much can't leak no matter what you do. The only downside to this SXK clone is that both of mine leak about a drop of juice per day past the 510 pin. It has not been an issue with the Pico as it has a sealed 510 connector, but I had to mention it :)

Best of luck with it :thumb:

I work demolition....I find that squonkers are perfect for harsh work environments. Sub ohm, bulletproof and 8 mls on board. What more could you ask for?

I ended up getting an ohmsmium 24 80w mod by asmodus with a kayfun v5 mini. I've been using it as a STL with 4mg DIY. Over the past week or so I've come to prefer the STL over MTL. Its a pretty solid device, though I don't think the tank could take a serious hit. There's videos of a guy doing toughness tests on the ohmsmium on their website - hitting it with a golf club, running it over with a car, etc.

I'm keeping my provari v2.5 with my phoenix v3 atomizers as my beater...I'll just have to keep a backup atty incase it takes a wack.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. :)
