Hi,

Quick backround info: i hae been vaping for about four years ago,i started building sub ohm coils about two years(nothing lower than .5) and started mixing my own liquid around that time too.

Here's what i want to know, over the past few months of vaping i have been getting a sore through throat when vaping, some hits that i take really burn my throat. When this happens i check and make sure everything is the way its supposed to be and everything is,i get a mouth full of flavor when this happens so it isnt a burnt wick. I find it really strange. My Girlfriend who also started vaping around the same time has me recently quit vaping because her throat was constantly sore, as i stated above i wouldn't consider myself a "noob" but i am certainly curious and would love to know why these events occur.

Thank you in advance for assistance.

It's winter time here, so sore throats sort of happen from the temperature change, and the dryness that's associated with winter, I don't know if that's bothering you in your area though.

There are tons of things that can contribute to a sore throat. There are also a few minor changes that you should make when you start vaping that will help with that.

Are you drinking enough water? Vapor dehydrates you, your throat, if nothing else. Water will help that, and if you're a soda drinker (Like I am), then you'll need to consciously keep a glass of water going.

Has your juice expired? You said that you've been vaping for 4 years, is there any chance that the juices you're using are older than a year? They do start to lose their kick, but the industry is fairly young, so we don't really have a deadline for throwing them out...a good rule of thumb is a year.

Try turning down your voltage/wattage. I know that it's probably not what you want to hear, but...try backing off the power a bit and see if that helps. Lots of sub-ohmers tend to go crazy with the heat, which can cause some popping and cracking, and a bit of juice to get into your mouth and thusly your throat. Also the excessive heat on your throat could further aggravate any soreness already there. Back to the winter-type sore throats. When you're vaping, you're basically blasting your throat with a warm, humid mist. If it's cool and dry in the regular air that you're breathing, you could be shocking it a little bit.

Some flavorings might also be causing you issues, but, like tmcase said above, we really need more information to give you anything more than a very broad set of possibilities as I just did.

You are an ex smoker.

Always see a doctor if anything weird happens in your mouth, throat, esophagus, etc.

Subohming adds some heat to these areas as well.

Vaping doesn't erase damage done by smoking, it will always be important for anyone who smoked to get regular checkups of lungs, mouth, throat, etc. We are not immune to problems caused by smoking.

I do not understand why people seek medical advice on an internet forum of strangers....although I do realize we are just trying to see if other people have experienced certain things.....but nobody can diagnose you for sure, and I worry that people are not going to seek medical attention when I see these kinds of topics......thousands of ex smokers, you know we are all prone to smoking related problems and diseases for the rest of our lives because we have damage that was done prior to vaping.

Please have your doctor swab your throats----- maybe you are both passing back and forth some kind of fungal or bacterial infection? This can go on for months, you know stuff like that, but only a doctor can diagnose throat, mouth, lung problems.

best of luck to you, but please find out and let us know. ;)
