We have no choice but to exist "underground." It is very clear that even if people had all their wishes, and Stephen Harper himself did a news conference vaping and saluting all the benefits and suggesting every Canadian vape their brains out if they wish with his and his government's full encouragement, we will still be underground, as underground as we are now.

As people have mentioned, whatever mainstream marketing that we see will at the very least pale in comparison to value received. There is every reason to believe, in fact, that they will tax this stuff to the gills, meaning abusing us by exploiting our addiction the same way they do with all other so called approved nicotine products, tobacco based or otherwise.

We could say, well who cares, let these suckers get ripped off while we continue to order our products online at one tenth or less of the cost of smoking. Well once the government has a real stake in all of this, you can bet that they probably will not have the hands off approach to nicotine liquid that they do now.

All you have to do is look at the way they approach the underground tobacco industry, which costs them a lot of tax money and they go to great lengths to look to put a stop to this. Vehicles are seized, money is seized, people's lives are seized.

So to me, people who promote activism are akin to being a Jew in Nazi Germany and wanting to hold a public rally for Jewish rights. Not very smart I would say. This sort of thing would be very right in principle but you have to look at this from a practical standpoint.

We are lucky in fact, very lucky, that the government has taken a hands off approach to this and have not enacted any laws against vaping. It may indeed be the case that they see the error in opposing vaping but on the other hand can't come out officially for it, so they are instead showing their support in another way, which is not looking to interfere beyond putting on a little show, like sending out warning letters to vendors like they did a while back but not bothering to go any further.

So in a way, as critical as I am about our government and HC in particular, things really aren't so bad after all. This situation reminds me a little of the song Family Man, where their bark is much worse than their bite, but if you push them too far they just might.

Prices on cigarettes keep going up because ,ore and more people quit smoking. So in turn the governments needs to make up the short fall in tax revenue, tax on smokes go up.

Just my 2 cents worth

Not to mention they want you to quit smoking or they say.........but do they really?

Happy vaping

It would appear that smokers who fall ill and die are "acceptable losses".
