Ok, so I have decided to try cartridges and attty's instead of cartomisers. Couple of questions :

(1) There is fluff / cotton in the cartridge and I have seen on utube that some say, remove this. Should I remove it, or keep it.

(2) If you keep it, should you drip 3 drops onto it ? or no drops

(3) If you do remove it, should you not drip any liquid into the cartridge.

(4) 3 drops into the atty and then that's it right.

(5) How long does that last, before you need to drip again. Might it last around 12 puffs ? reason I ask is, I want to know if you can get a complete cig out of one dropping episode.

The Internet
1) Definitely remove
3) Correct
4) Yes, but maybe 4 or 5 after you have cleaned or blown out your atomizer
5) Depends on how big your puffs are and the size of the drops

I concur with DC2. Season to taste.

If you haven't used attys before, you'll want to blow out the primer, or just puff through it - don't inhale. Add drips until you taste your juice, then proceed in blissful plumes of vaping freedom. :)

It's there to hold juice, to be wicked to the atomizer by the bridge that we're dripping directly onto. The cartridge with filler is mainly to be used as a holder of ejuice. Removing the filler, and just dripping directly onto the atty is just another option we have. I'm still so fresh 'n new to all this, and undecided on everything... I have one eGo set up as a dripper, few others with cartridges loaded with juice and a carto filled as well. Ready for any mood that strikes ;o)

the cotton/filler is the "absorbent" which holds the eliquid close enough to the atty to allow our ecigs to vaporize properly. It is meant to be there...........unless you are "direct dripping" which is putting your liquid directly to the atty. In this case you don't need a "resivoir" for liquid (the filler) so it is removed from the cart.

I just started "dripping" yesterday and here are two simple observations:

cart fillilng lasts longer
dripping results in a more pure flavor

got a few q's myself I'll post separately but just a little feedback for ya.

On a brand new atomizer or a dry atty, honestly it takes way more than 3 drops to prime it. All of the attys I've used take about 11 drops before they're totally primed and sufficiently wet. And no, they don't flood after 11 drops. The wick just soaks it all up it's amazing. If you're planning on actually dripping there is no need whatsoever for the cartridge filling. Take it out. But I would suggest a drip tip. Some vendors carry them for very cheap (some are only 1.50 a piece). The reason I say this is because using a blank cartridge to drip gets annoying, having to remove it every time you need to re-drip. With a drip tip you just drip your juice directly into the hole no removal necessary. And Welcome to the wonderful world of dripping!!

Ah, interesting you mention the drip tip.

This is (Am I right here) a cartridge that you drip straight on to. So you do not have to remove the cartridge and drive straight on to the atty. How do I know if my cartridge is a drip tip - should it say somewhere.

Also. Xanax. Are you saying when you start a new atty - 11 drops ?

Tried carts and atty method last night. I do have to concur, the vape is good and fresh, better than cartomiser.

DC2 - You say, Definitely remove the cotton from the cartridge. Can you say why. Seems sensible that it holds more liquid so you don't have to fill up so often. Maybe there is a taste / vape type reason for this

A cartridge is one thing; a drip tip is another. It's just a hollow tube, essentially, that displaces a cartridge (no filler or anything else that just gets in the way inside):

Yes, a drip tip is basically a cart that you drip into w/out having to remove it. it's really just a tube. You'll be able to tell just by looking at it.

And the reason you remove the filler when dripping, is b/c if you drip, then put the cart with filler in back on, the filler will wick away some of the juice that you just dripped, making you have to drip more often.

So, does a normal cartridge become a drip tip when you have taken out the filling material, or do you have to buy drip tips specifically.

You can drip using a cartridge minus filler, by taking the cartridge off each time you drip a few drops in. Drip Tips are designed with a large enough hole in the mouthpiece that you don't have to remove it each time, just drip straight down to the atomizer - simplified.

But yeah, two different monsters ;o) Drip tips are cheap tho'...

Hoppy and sl_rat..
Would it also be damaging to low resistance atomizers if they go dry? I understand then that drip tip is not suitable for heavy vapers. It that correct?

NEVER let your atty run dry. they aren't meant to be run dry. i don't believe in the "dry burn" method of cleaning them either. drip tips are awesome for any type of user. with the exception of someone who drives a car all day, perhaps. get a 5ml bottle, toss it in your pocket, slap on your drip tip and you're set for tons of vaping.

+1
Save yourself a few weeks of the learning curve, and follow the above. I tried carts and yes they are ok for a quick trip in the car. However I think they mess up your atty. My opinion though. I am a newbie to so I could be wrong, but I lost two in quick order as it seems they mash the atty, and pull it apart. I am using LR 510's. Dripping is the way to go. After its primed, you will notice a drop off in taste after 5-6 puffs, then just drop some more juice in there. You will know if its getting dry. (Nasty taste.) Took me a couple days to figure out when to add some more juice. After you figure that out you are good to go.
