My uncle said he was going to order a V4L kit. I provided him with my links and told him what to get etc. etc. Even provided him with the code for 10% off. Got a text message from him last night saying he ordered a free trial kit. WHAT??? Then he said he got ripped off. He swore it was V4L. Why don't people listen? If there was a V4L freebie, doesn't he think I would have told him? Give me a break. "Free" is not free! I'm so frustrated and sad for him. This will probably turn him off of e-cigs all together. Why don't people listen??  :-x :grr: :danger:

He uses AOL, I bet there was a pop up window and he clicked on it. People who don't do their research who are always looking for a "too good to be true" DEAL really p%&* me off! Now this company has his credit card number and will not cancel his order - won't answer the phone or emails etc. etc. Just a mess!

I was on a site the other day that uses V4L logo and it was not vapor4life. I wonder if it was the same site? I wrote down the site address to alert the real V4L and I lost the paper I wrote it on. But I am wondering if this is what happened to your uncle. It was a free trial vaporking and had both V4L and Vaporking logos on this site.

He should cancel the charge with his CC company.

Tell him to Either refuse the package OR send it back UNOPENED. Return it either "Delivery Confirmation" or "Signature required" for his added protection....and then contact his CC company and file a dispute. He should be OK when the dust settles.
I bet this happens to someone every day somewhere.

Good luck. :thumb:

Sorry to hear about the issue. It sucks that he fell for the scam.

I dont understand why people are so willing to just trust what a company says. No for-profit company is going to do something that is not in its best interest. In the case of any free trial, especially if the terms of the contract involve you agreeing and getting signed up for a period of time, the company will benefit from ignoring your request. Sure it might not be a sustainable business model, but who says that is what they are going for. They are probably banking on people being unable or lazy to fight it for various reasons.

You always have to be leery with companies that you can not find a proven track record for, very much so if you are entering into any contract with them. It always makes me sad to hear about people getting taken advantage of with things like this. Sadly I run across stories like this every so often at work and school.

If he just placed the order, which it sounds like. He needs to call and cancel with the company now, or at least try to. He needs to do this in a way that he can provide proof that he attempted to, to the credit card company.

Do not open the package, either refuse delivery (you can do this even if it is left on your doorstop most times) or send it in a way that you can prove they received it. Just dont let him open it.

Call the credit card company and cancel the charges. Explain to them that you will not accept charges from this company, they are known to be a scam, you found out too late and that have honored your part of the contract by returning the package before the date is due. I dont know if they will want all of that, or if you want to tell them all of it, but figure out your story. Provide needed proof and just watch to make sure they do not apply charges.

Debit cards dont provide the same level of protection, most times, as credit cards. You have more protections if you run your debit card as credit, than as debit.

All of this is from my experience or assumptions, if I am wrong someone let me know.

Sorry to hear that Chimchim. You are wonderful to try at least. I would have him do as Keyz suggested. Have him call his CC and cancel the transaction.

Sadly there are a lot of these scams going about out there. If he has any information about the site tell him to keep it and report them. People like this are as much our enemy as the corrupt members of the FDA.

I think I found it. Free Kit (1 XL, 1 USB charger, 1 box of cartos claiming it's a week's supply, and a carrying pouch) an 84.95 value free for only 9.99 processing plus 19.99 shipping. Ha! They are clearly using the V4L logo & product. Are people that easily fooled? So sad.

will have to add ECF and V4L Forum links to my email. i have one all set up to fire off to anyone that is interested. i tell ppl to do the research all the time. i have a brother/bother in law that "doesn't do research" i gave up on him. but most ppl are willing to listen if they feel like they're in over their heads.

it would be a good idea to turn that link over to the V4L guys, someone may be doing a redirect to their site, one way or the other they are stepping on V4L and their excellent rep. And that just ticks me off!

Edited to add: Just did the research, turns out scammers have been doing this as far back as 2009. V4L has been warning ppl, found a post from June 2010. Your uncle needs to call his CC company and let them know or he may get charged every month. Kinda wish bottom feeders would take the time to build their own rep.

The offer my uncle used was not this offer that ThankUForVaping found. That offer was actually legit - a V4L site. I am a affiliate and it is one of our "offers" that we can link people to. The one my uncle used was not V4L. I know him, he just did not listen to me and was after a deal. He's not tech savvy and uses AOL (not that there is anything wrong with this) and probably got a pop up and got confused. This company is all over the internet as a scam.

i hope he will listen long enough to call his CC company. my dad tends to do that with the As Seen On TV stuff, then gets roped into paying a bunch of shipping on the "freebies" i told him to call me and i'll run a search for reviews b4 he orders and can let him know if there are complaints etc. (no computer in the folks house)

Good luck, Chim. And then there's scam #2, which involves peppering the internet with professional-looking reviews of certain suppliers, and even a special discount code--just for you! Sadly, I fell for that "affiliate" approach with Greensmoke at the very start. Fortunately, GS itself was straight up in giving me a full refund with no hassle.

My advice to noobs I meet--if they want to compare V4L--is to avoid any suppliers offering such affiliate kick-backs to current users.

First of all, let me say this. I am truly sorry that ANYONE has to go though this will our brand name attached.

You must all know by now that V4L does not scam, will not scam and will not steal money from our beloved customers!! IF nothing else, our reputation (especially on the ECF) is clean as a whistle!!

However, we do allow affiliate marketers to promote sales WITHIN our guidelines and we are aware of many of the offers that are being delivered to the marketplace. We also allow resellers to operate in the marketplace - and pricing may vary in different markets. We can't control this 100% we can merely suggest what resellers use as "suggested retail pricing"

The only REAL scams online are the companies that sell horrible products via a 'continuity program' and automatically sign you up for re-orders on a monthly basis - V4L has steered VERY clear of doing business this way. We do NOT want to upset our customers, and do not want to take what is not rightfully ours - a true honest sale.

I am sorry that your uncle got caught in what he thought was a scam, good thing most CC companies will allow you to refute any charges online and that internet laws protect the consumer (most of the time).

The best thing all of you can do to help, is to tell your family what V4L is doing for you, and personally give them some of the business cards we ship with each order - also continually circulate our Vapor4Life.com URL... that will help keep everyone on the same page.

I hope this helps...
Dave
