I have been vaping since 2010. So I know of what I speak. I see the tide changing in the vaping world. We used to be this small group of people that was ignored by the masses. Oh how times have changed. Still, after all the information put out there today on the Today Show I saw a crawler that said "Study shows E-Cigarettes leads to tobacco cigarette use"... Really? Does anyone know anyone who STARTED with vaping and switched to REAL cigarettes?

After the New Jersey fiasco, see Phil's videos, the writing is on the wall. Vaping is under attack. Do I think it will be outright outlawed, of course not, however I do know the BILLION DOLLAR tobacco companies are NOT going to just lay down and take it.

My request to you, my vaping family, do one thing, just one... call your state, county, city rep. Write a letter, emails are too easily ignored. Doing nothing will get us nothing.

I have heard rumors for years, this is the first year I am actually fearful, you should be too.

This is the first year that I've actually bought some nic and put it in my freezer. There are Many of us fighting. Unfortunately, there are many that are not.

We do have to keep getting people motivated to fight.

I'm fighting for all the smokers that haven't found vaping yet. I am fighting for the potential smokers that could pick up an e-cig instead of a pack of cigs.

Write your governing bodies, our governing bodies and your local people. The more voices, the louder we become.

Same here and I'll probably pick up another liter or two on the next mfs sale. The hammer is coming down in the next year or so, I'd imagine.

I live in Arkansas. the hammer is coming down here. :( I am yelling at the top of my lungs but it seems like no one is hearing. That won't stop me but it does get frustrating at times.

I am pretty well set so the out of control rules aren't going to affect me but we all have to stand up and fight for those that have not prepared for what is coming and those that don't even realize yet that they need to both fight and prepare.

This one thing has the potential to totally wipe out cigarette smoking over just a period of a few years. That can only happen if it is not legislated to nothing but what the Tobacco companies offer.

If you haven't done so already Please sign the petition you see down there in my signature and for those that can't see it go here
Petition · U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, President of the United States: Reject the FDA's Deeming of Vapor Products as Tobacco Products · Change.org

Together we stand !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happened in New Jersey? I don't keep my thumb on the pulse of the vaping world so much anymore.

They fined vendors and particaptants at the vape conventiom for vapeing indoors.
A big mess. New Jersey has had an indoor vaping ban since way back in 2009-10. There is a big ol' thread around here somewhere about the fiasco.

People putting on the convention thought they could get around the law by a technicality that really didn't pan out.

A big mess.

If you think signing a petition is actually doing something then we have already lost. This is a typical badly written amateur petition, and one that actually pushes misinformation when saying
Vapor products are not tobacco products, they are a safer alternative to tobacco products
The above quote from the petition pushes the lie that tobacco is the problem, when of course the real problem is inhaling smoke.

No one of any importance will read this, and if they do will immediately disregard it. It is to bad this petition is getting spammed onto the front page of ECF. It is long past due for this thing to have a nice quiet death so we can get back to real activism that actually might make a difference. There are very good reasons why CASAA does not support petitions in general, and especially this one (an advocacy thread on there Facebook page was deleted). Petitions don't work, and this one in particular is badly written and misinforms the public.

No petition or anything else will satisfy everyone. Maybe you would be equally dismissive if you saw the letters I wrote to my local politicians. And whatever it is that you see as real activism might not get me fired up.

I think what matters is for as many folks as possible to do SOMETHING. That requires a lot of flavors of action to choose from. And pouring scorn on other folks choice of action doesn't help in my opinion.

There are very good reasons why there are no ecig advocacy groups that have come out in support of this petition. Signing a petition (and a badly written one at that) does NOTHING.

We all need to do what we think is right. Maybe no one thing alone will have an impact but doing nothing, I feel sure, is not the right route to take. I have read your thought on this petition and you, of course, are entitled to your own thoughts. I will continue to remind others about this petition along with whatever else I can do to get the attention of those that would try to smother this in its infancy.

By continuing to spam this petition to the front page you are advocating doing nothing of importance. I guess doing nothing of importance is better then doing nothing.

That's why there is so much anti-vaping propaganda out there. While I don't think a couple of years is a reasonable expectation, in the next generation I think the ratio of smokers to vapers will flip. The government stands to lose literally hundreds of billions of dollars in tax revenue. And the politicians themselves stand to lose millions each in donations (bribes, kickbacks, ever what you want to call it) from BT. The one thing that makes things happen in DC is money. And when you threaten to take money from a politician (especially when it's unreported income) they react by jumping on a soap box and denouncing your ideas and actions.

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
I really think its going to take voting all the bums out of office. Iv heard enough of them blather to know they will do whatever it is that suits there agenda (more money), not mine. Both sides play the push pull-FUD game now and its going to take a sea change in DC to make any difference.

Short of that`s there is civil disobedience. Remember what Jefferson said about unjust laws, all freemen are duty bound to resist them in the name of freedom. To that end, I feel everyone should make their own juice. If we all did that it would really put a hitch in their heavy handed dealings. If everyone did that, they would succumb to public pressure the very same way they did to prohibition. You can not stop, what you cannot stop.

Very big election coming up next year. Voting apathy among
people is rampant. This is the time - this is the time to register
to vote and go out next year and make sure you help vote out
all these flipping politicians that ignore us. People CAN make
a difference. If in doubt who to vote for, my theory is vote
out the incumbant.

Here here!!! I will as well. I have always believed that one never knows how their actions can snowball so we must always try to do what we see as good. I was just recently in a discussion with a woman I had gone to grade school with many years ago. She sent me a message thanking me for introducing her to vaping. I was a bit confused because I didn't know I had, but then she explained that she saw my petition posts on FB, other news stories on vaping and also had watched my progress over the past year. It inspired her to check it out and she has been vaping for a few weeks. Is that a huge deal or does it save vaping? No but I am so pleased that my words and sharing things like this petition effected somebody elses world in a positive way so by that I did help and so does every petition, email, letter, phone call etc.... that somebody can do. The petition that Less wrote may not end up doing what we hope it does, but it does help because it spreads a positive word that makes people think. But of course as we all know it is not enough!!! The more people actively advocating the better. Every drop of water adds to the oceans depth so even if your participation seems small do it. It all matters and it should all be appreciated!!

Fantastic story Jode. We never know when something we do will have an impact on someone else.

^^ 100 times this. Sitting in your recliner shaking your head at the news does nothing. If you care about it, fight for it. Join. Donate. Write. Do SOMETHING!

At the end of the day, at least you'll be able to say that you tried, which beats the hell out of quietly accepting your fate.
