I understand where you are coming from. I don't like others to think negatively about me either. That being said, it also would have upset me badly because I have never even TRIED what they thought you were doing. Never. Not even when I was "young and stupid" and all of my friends were trying it. I'm very proud of that, so for someone to accuse me of doing that would hurt.

Give it another decade and what he has implied you were doing likely will not even be illicit any longer. In the short term, especially if you are quitting analogs, vape publicly and if people are curious, share with them how vaping has helped you quit. As others have mentioned, that typically garners lots of support and enthusiasm from people.

Bigger picture, try not to let people get to you like that. Easier said than done I know but you know where you stand. This should blow over (no pun intended) quickly enough. If this could affect your reputation and professional prospects at school, then that would warrant a serious conversation with him. If he is a decent human being, he will respect your wishes.

Yeah man you need not worry about what other people think of you. Try to relax a little. Definitely try to educate this person you know and show him how it works and what you put in it. And after all of that if he doesn't believe you hang out with different people. I'm sure there are more people at the school you go to that vape. Maybe they vape secretly because they think the same way, who knows.
