I own several VV and hybrid/genesis style mods but now I'm in the market for an indestructible no frills mod with 510 threads (preferably 18650). I mostly want something I don't have to worry about babying when I'm out on the boat, at the beach, camping, etc. Fully mechanical would be preferred, but not necessary.

But I also don't want to spend a lot of money, in case I lose the damn thing (or drop it overboard), and because it will only really be used for outdoor activities. I'm open to all suggestions, but the main feature I'm looking for is nuclear-war reliability, in that I don't want it to fail in the middle of a week long sailing or camping trip and be stuck.

any ideas?

If youre looking for purely mechanical and something practically indestructible Id go with a Prodigy V1. If you dont mind gently used then can you find them in the classifieds for 60-80 bucks.

With the holidays almost here might be a good idea to post a Want To Buy thread.

You can't go wrong with an old classic, the Silver Bullet from Altsmoke.com. They're built like a tank solid performers, 510 thread, 18650 batt's, and relatively inexpensive. If you want to go all mechanical then the Omega, also from Altsmoke, would fit the bill. It's 510 threaded, and uses 18650's, and it too is not too bad on the wallet.

Many of the above suggestions involve "semi" mechanical mods. Many DO have wires in them!! Nothing wrong with that...I have some of those myself and really like 'em...like the Smok telescope for example. But for a REALLY "indestructible" APV that is FULLY mechanical (everything ...and I mean everything...can be disassembled and all of it is solid as a rock) is the LavaFire. Awesome mechanical mod...at a price point that isn't going to break the bank. Can use 18650s, 18350's or 16350's...and if you are into such you can stack the 18350's or 16350 types for 7.4 volt vaping. Truly an impressive HEAVY solid device. Mine is going to outlast me. Probably will end up being bequeathed to my children and their children's children. And outlast all of them too.

Here is another one that while I don't have it personally...it's basically built the same with the exception it's a true telescoping mechanical and thus can take more variety of battery sizes. It's called the Tec Mod.

Silver Bullet is my pick of the litter for being rugged. The Bolt is also impressive for the price and works really well.

I don't recommend the bolt as rugged, simply because of its 510 connection weakness unless you ensure that you will never apply lateral force to any juice delivery system attached to it. Any lateral force applied more than a few times, or attaching a juice delivery system too tightly a few times will destroy the electrical connections.

Sorry, meant to say the plastic or rubberized bolt. No experience with the connections on the metal version.
