Hey guys new here and some what new to vaping, I had a friend about a year back get me in to this but it never took on bought a little ego-T starter kit and then upgraded to clearo's but went back to smoking and never looked back, well about a week ago i stopped at my local friendly ecig shop and picked up a new 1300mah vison spinner and 3 mini vivi nova atomizers with three different flavors. frost berry, cherry coke, and menthol for i smoked Newports =)

well here is my issue... things have been going great in fact i have only had one normal cig since i have started with absolutely no cravings but EVERY single time i hit on any of the flavors i got on any of the atomizers i bought on any of the voltage settings from my spinner i feel like i just hit {MODERATED} and tried clearing it in one breath.... basically i take a drag and inhale into my lungs my throat freaks out and tightens up making me choke on the smoke and throwing me into a coughing fit from hell exhaling it is not as bad but no picnic either. i would have thought that "vapper" would be nice and smooth and even some what relaxing even more so then a real cigarette but i cant enjoy it what so ever....

i have tried goggling my issue and tried all the advises i have read such as let it sit in your mouth for a few moments before inhaling to drinking tons of water between hits but with no such luck my experience has not improved. i also read to just exhale threw my nose from my mouth but for some reason no matter the flavor just feels like im blowing out straight peppermint out my noes and burns like crazy.

i don't beleave i cant find my answer on Google and was hoping some one here knows what is up and could guide me to a better experience for im a week off cigarettes and i don't want to go back this time

thanks, and please excuse my spelling.

Your experience is not unusual. I have the same problem, I can't inhale without coughing my lungs up. I've been experimenting with different juices and I've found that some are smoother than others but no way can I take a normal hit from the ecig into my lungs. Yet other people that I've let taste my juice have no problem with it. I don't get it.

My reading here suggests that the ratio of PV vs VG and the level of nicotine in the juice has a big effect on the harshness of the vapor. You should try a 50/50 mix with maybe 12 mg and see if that works better for you. Also try letting 80% of the vapor out through your nose first and inhale what's left. That's what seems to be working for me. It's a new habit we have to learn, and unlearn the old way of smoking.

BTW you're right about menthol through the nose... brings tears, doesn't it? :vapor:

You know, I think the steam caused by the vapor sometimes doesn't react well with smoker's lungs. I had quit prior to picking up vaping, so it wasn't a big deal, but my mom and dad, who both smoke, have tried vaping and they cough and choke every time. Vapor is so much purer and I think lungs gunked up with tar and what not have a difficult time with the thickness and steam effect at first. I would suggest sticking with it and letting your body adjust. My dad said that after a day of vaping, he felt like he had a cold and was all congested due to the vapor actually steam cleaning his lungs. Vapor is a different consistency from regular smoke, so it takes some adjusting for some people.

I think everyone has this issue when they start vaping. It's due to your lungs being used to smoke and not the vaper. Just take slow small drags first, and don't inhale right away. Hold it in your mouth for a few seconds first, see if that helps :) Also you really don't need to inhale if you don't want to.

I had the same exact problem but it was only with one particular juice vendor, it was just something in the way their juice was produced and how it interacted with me personally. I would suggest grabbing another menthol flavor, maybe just a standard dekang version, they are not the best but usually have consistent results in how they hit. This would at least narrow it down to whether it is a juice problem or hardware problem. BTW, i have been vaping for over 3 years now and love the SPINNER with evod tank and coils, i tried the vivi novas for a while and they did good at first but the evod has been the most consistent performer i have found yet.

That's a common experience of quitting smoking, though your Dad may be right about the steam helping (IANAP -I am not a pulmonologist).

Some where on your bottle it should list the PG/VG that's in it and also the Nic level. Like 18mg or 24 mg...take a look at your bottles and let us know what is on it..that will help a lot with trying to give you advice.

Also...you chose a really great setup! That Vision 1300mAh Spinner is great and the Viva Novas are great for starters (and even oldies as well) Without know what Nic level you have...this is my advice...turn your battery all the way down to the 3.3 Volt...and keep it there for a bit. Take small drags starting out. Take the drag, leave it on your mouth for a second, then slowly inhale. For the first few times, most people do cough...that's why I'm suggesting you start off at 3.3V. Once you get to where you are not coughing on the 3.3V..you can then slowly work your way up the Voltage on your Battery.

In the box that you Nova cam in...you should have three heads that will go on it. There where the wicks are at, on the silver part, under the wicks, there should be two numbers 1.8, 2.4, or 2.8...those factor in with Which Voltage you should be vaping at. The lower the number on the head, the lower voltage you should use it with. I'm Fond of the 2.4 ohms head because it can pretty much be OK at any of the settings on the Spinner Battery.

sorry i never mentioned the nic level for got i read that it effects the so called "throat hit" what i ended up buying was 11mg of nic from my local store at plumes of omaha here in NE, as far as Pg Vg ratio i do not know the sticker on the bottle just simply says vegetable glycerin, polypropylene glycol, organic flavors.

as far as the vivi nova goes i too bought this from plumes and it didnt come in a box set or anything was like a whole sell type deal the three i bought came in little cellophane wrap and bought extra atimizors that came in singles in a zip lock baggy "fyi when buying all this felt like i just walked out of a head shop" lol but it is the 2.4 ohm atimizor and i do keep it at 3.3volt i dont get much vap of it but the 4.8 setting nearly brought me to my knees and i dear not try that again

Well nic level is the number one reason for sore throat,at least from what i've seen and second is the ohm of the atty vs the volts of the battery. And last is the delivery system thar works best for you.For example some people i know use genesis and say its the best, but anything with mesh makes me cough like crazy! Needs lots of trial and error to find your perfect fit :)

I had this happen to me when I first tried the e-cig from greensmoke from the starter kit I bought, I think it is smokers lung that was doing it, I wasnt happy until I got an ego type setup like yours, your nicotine level on your juice seems pretty low, think you need to be patient and let your lungs clear out awhile, also I would try buying some different juice from different vendor, some are pretty harsh, mtbakervapor has cheap prices on their juice and usually takes 2 days to ship, thats just my input from my experience, try and hang in there

I am new but have experience with different types of juices I have been experiencing. I know exactly what you are talking about and had a problem with this.

Your main issue is likely that you are using very poor quality juice. Also, you should try using a very high VG formula and lower nic levels (usually around 12mg/ml is very light). Also try sweet flavors like vanilla or candy flavors, I have noticed less throat hit in juices like this.

Also if you didn't know this already, juice flavor changes after sitting (usually about 2 weeks) and I also noticed the throat hit will decrease or become smoother and more enjoyable.
