I wonder -- is it possible to find something like a mod construction set? I mean like a bunch of short pipes with male and female threads on the opposing sides, caps that fit on that, etc?

I don't mind cutting flashlights and all, but none of them seem to be the perfect diameter for batteries, and I don't really have the tools to thread them :)

oh no, I didn't mean a mod. I meant more like a lego set for mods.

I'd like to do my own switches, connectors and electronics. I just can't find suitable housing for that. Some threaded pipes with, say, 19mm internal diameter, and with threaded caps that fit it would be very dandy. You know the extension ring for the Bolt? Imagine getting a bunch of those, putting together a body of your mod out of it, and then wiring whichever way you want.

The hunt for base material and parts is half the fun of modding. A good place to start is at big box and mom and pop hardware stores. The mom and pop stores may have things that the big box stores do not carry. Just wander through the store with your "modding eyes" open. Also try antique shops, garage sales, and flea markets you will be amazed at the selection of .....hmmm.... "stuff" you will find. This also a good way make your wife wonder just exactly what are you up to. hehe. :)
It is allways a good idea to bring along the battery or bottle you are trying to find a fit for.
