"What we found is a lack of evidence to support the belief we all had in that there was no harm to bystanders in exhaled vapor (second-hand vapor). "

This statement confuses me. Is it a typo or misworded, or am I reading it wrong? It would seem that they found evidence to support the belief, not a lack of evidence?

Later it says, " In short, there is NO harm found in exhaled vapor from electronic cigarettes. "

Okay, I haven't actually looked at the report yet, but that 1st quote seems weird.

Okay, looked at the results. Pretty promising. It will be nice to see the final report. I'm itching to make comparative graphs.

Anyway, I do wish they had done a negative control (all the measurements without vaping or smoking in the rooms). Then they could subtract that out as the baseline. Maybe they did do that and it's just not in the preliminary results. It's not the most well controlled study, but definitely interesting and shows that it's worthy of further study.

That statement was the reason for the study. We simply could not prove the clames that were being made by the vaping community, and lost in our state legislature as a result. So we decided to find out for ourselves. As soon as the peer review is completed the study will be published.

The problem that we encountered before this study was that all previous studies were of 'first-hand vapor' instead of 'second-hand vapor'.

    Oh I see.

Okay, so I'd reword it to say something like, "While previous research has addressed the components of nicotine liquid and vapor of electronic cigarettes, studies of the 2nd hand (exhaled) vapor are still lacking. The purpose of our study was to analyze the components of 2nd hand vapor compared to cigarette smoke in order to assess the relative harm of exhaled vapor.".

That's not great ^, but I have a 5 year old showing me an ant on a boat right now, so I can't really concentrate very well. LOL. As it stands right now, it makes it sound like *your* results showed a lack of evidence that it's safe, and I had to read further to clarify what you really meant. I know it's not the real report, but lots of people will be looking at this preliminary page, and you don't want them to be confused right from the start.

Good job. Can't wait to see the final report!
