Somewhat Disappointed...

Man, I sincerely wish this was one of those cutesy, fanboi threads that tries to be funny by putting up a negative title and finishing it with a turnaround line like, "Somewhat disappointed... that I didn't order from TV first!" Unfortunately, it's not...

I ordered two flavors last weekend and got them on Wednesday... on this point I have to say... if they came any quicker, I'd think teleportation was involved... I mean come on... Cali to Pa in 3 days? That's lightning fast!

I ordered Butter Cream in 24g 65/35 (PG/VG) and tobacco/Menthol 24g 80/20...

The Butter Cream is most interesting... I had ordered it with extra dairy and EM (whatever that is), per Geoff's instructions on a previous query... I didn't actually plan to vape it by itself... I planned to use it as a mixer for some other flavors... mainly, Cafe Machiatto (which is my fave flave, so far)... but surprise surprise... I actually enjoy it as a main vape... I used it all day at work yesterday and it is very yum...

However, the tobacco/Menthol was a different story... and let me preface this by saying I've yet to find ANY menthol that tasted anywhere remotely like an analog menthol... but this stuff tasted like someone crushed up a tic-tac, mixed it with listerine and dropped it into my carto! It's terrible and may be totally unvapable... I dunno, I try to use all my juices by mixing them if they don't taste too good alone... but I'm not sure that this stuff will not ruin anything I mix it with...

Now this definitely DOES NOT mean I'm mad or upset or anything like that... I'll continue to support Geoff and TV wholeheartedly, and with my money... it's just disappointing because menthol analogs seem to be so hard to replicate for some unknown reason... and I know three women who are very dear to me who would quit right now if I could find something that tasted anything like a Newport or similiar menthol cig... so you see where I'm coming from on this one... I just figured if anyone could nail a menthol analog, it would be Geoff...

Oh well, I'm off to do some OT... I have a couple of new flavors in mind for another order from TV next week, so I can use the extra cash...

Some people just can't curb that cig craving with any other flavor than a cig flavor. Myself included. I love all my flavors, and I have a lot, but when I'm craving or want just a regular all day vape I generally turn to my Dekang 555 or a Marl/menthol mix. It's not quite the same as a cig but the only thing that really cures the craving for me.
When I want flavor OMG I love all my flavors, really, and I can smell TV's juice from here and I can't freaking wait til I can taste it. But bet your .... in the morning I will start off vaping my 555 or Marl/menthol mix with my coffee.

Could it be that some people REALLY enjoy a good menthol? If I could find a good menthol, I would defintiely go for it! There is a proven cooling sensation with menthol that you can't get anywhere else and there are some NASTY menthol mixes out there! I have one (not TV). No one wants them to taste like nalogs, just to be pleasantly vapable.

I used to smoke Marlboro menthol smooths and they tasted more like spearmint than menthol. The closest I have come is with a cinna spearmint 0 nic juice that I make but only one or two drops per tobacco cart.

It gives a step by step process on the tab additional mixing help. Have you tried this? Geoff sells a really nice unflavored nic which I really love.

I receive my menthol yesterday and this is just me. I think there is too much menthol in it. I was never a menthol smoker so do not know for sure.

Is there a way to calm it down a little?

Do you like the regular tobacco flavor? Just a thought...might want to try mixing the menthol with tobacco flavor or even tobacco doubler to make the menthol softer?

No offense taken, but there are a few points to mention...

1) If I wanted to vape Listerine, I could buy a huge bottle for under $10 and not spend $15 + shipping for it!

2) Many people out there DO NOT like change at all... they're not avante garde trend-setters like us... It's tough enough to get them to assemble a PV and get over the difference in vapor VS smoke... but to also have them vape something that doesn't come close to the flavor they know and love... well, those people will get lost in the tobacco jungle...

3) For the record, I've vaped the following menthols as comparison... and I'll list them from best to worst...
---Nhaler HV Nuport 12mg, PG-based- It's the closest, but not that close.
---Vermont Vapor Mint 24mg, VG- It's not really billed as a menthol, but it's pretty good.
---American E-Liquid 20mg, Pg-based- This stuff tastes exactly like Hall's Mentho-Eucalyptus Original Flavor. I think it will mix with Cherry very well.
---Tasty Va... okay, we already discussed...

4) Put your money where your mouth is... send me $10 dollars cash, in the mail, and I'll ship the bottle right to you within 24 hours of receipt... what do you say?

Seriously, the only skin I have in the menthol game is 3 lovely ladies I care about that smoke menthol and need to quit, that's all...

The first time I tried the Tobacco/Menthol I didn't like it at all. My daily vape then was Vermont Vapor's Cool Mint. BUT...

The next day I decided to give it one more try and surprise, surprise... I liked it! I can't explain it but the second time was the charm. Since then I've had to figit with it a bit to get the vapor I want, but I love the taste. Tastes like a menthol cigarette? No, but nothing I've tried to date does.

Try it again tomorrow before you make up your mind.. you might be surprised.

Hey Karl; I am not a menthol person myself, but I have tried a few freebies that I have gotten from Smliin Steve at V4L. They tasted like the cools and other menthols I bummed from friends when was out of cigs. Smiln Steve was a menthol smoker maybe he can help you find what you are looking for?

Thanks for all the suggestions, folks... and I will be merrily tinkering with different menthol flavors, so I'm sure I'll hit on something...

Tasselhoff, you do bring up an excellent point... I would think a menthol mixed and/or sold by a former menthol analog smoker would be a better choice... in fact, my one female friend was by tonight and I smoked one of her Newports, and then vaped on the TV stuff right after...

From what I can tell, analog menthols have two, main components... there's the first taste that rushes into the whole of your mouth that's a mix of mild tobacco and mint... and as the smoke moves toward the back of your throat... that is the where the menthol "sting" is supposed to hit... right below the nasal cavities...

With some ingenuity, I think I may be able to replicate menthol with what I have, but an "off the shelf" solution would me optimal...

Oh, and Banjoman, I have tried it 3 days in a row now and... it still tastes like Listerine... I don't give up on Geoffs' juices that easily...

I gotta say, the Tobacco really is a hit or miss with a lot of people. And a LOT of people are expecting that funkin' nasty taste of a cigarette or even menthol cigarette when they vape it which will lead to all kinds of disappointment. Sorry you're disappointed Karl.

The menthol is a true menthol and even that is hit or miss with a lot of people.

Don't know what to say except I didn't get in the business thinking I was going to please everybody. But if I can please a large majority, which all of us at Tasty Vapor have. But since individual tastes vary so much, there is no honest way we can make any claim that we have the best of the best to offer.

What may taste like heaven to one person, can taste like complete ... to the next. That is just a fact of life.
