Somewhat lame "steam-punk" altoid case for my ecig

I thought I would post my fairly lame homemade e-cig case. I saw a while back on instructables electroplating an altoids tin. If you look up the instructions and want to do the same I highly advise against using a chemical to remove the enamel from the tin, the best way to do it is a dremmel and a wire brush attachment.


Also I used a far more simple electroplating process.

Very creative! Isn't it funny how we all have all these "homemade" things connected with vaping? I think half the fun of the whole "hobby" aspect of this is all the things we discover we can mod into something cool for our new obsession.

I'd really like to do a box mod.

For this set I think if I can find the time Id like to mod the battery with a veneer an copper-plate the metal parts. I'd also like to put a layer of satin over the foam insert in the case. I'm am not really into steam-punk but I still think it would be cool

Thats cool! I use an Altoids tin myself but haven't plated it or anything. Might look into that as mine is getting a little worn. It works great for carrying my PV stuff around during the day. An eGo battery(without cone), 4 standard cartomizers, 1 atty, drip tip, 3ml juice bottle and 1 standard 510 battery all fit in that little box. One of the batteries and one carto are usually not in the box anyway so more than enough room in there!

Does it stay shut well? Nice and compact! I'm using a cheap cloth covered Chinese lipstick case for my Riva battery but I need something better to keep the Riva's button away from the side. Currently wrapping folded paper towel around the middle. And I cannot fit anything else in with it.

It stays shut pretty well unless I drop it! From time to time I just bend the edge of the top cover in slightly so it catches better. Very sturdy little case for pocket or purse! I have a thin piece of foam lining the botttom. My eGo has the Riva type button so I just make sure it is not laying against the side wall or anything else. Haven't had a problem to date.

Love it! I have flat plain Altoid tins-and mine has a sticker of a nicotine molecule on it because I think I'd injure myself electroplating.

My tins stay closed very nicely- I've never had one open in my purse.

I have had no problem with it opening. My first problem I had was the rattling of all my stuff so I cut a piece of cardboard and foam to the size of the bottom of the tin. I the ran elastic loops through the foam and cardboard. This stopped the rattling. I didn't like having to loop the parts in every time I out something in it so I took some thicker foam and cut wells in it. Lost the universality of the elastic but I still like it better.

When the eGo batt is in use, the rest of the stuff in there does rattle a little. Thats why I used the foam. Didn't think about elastic loops!
Who would'a thought these little tins were so versatile? Plus, when using the "stock" tin with original paint, it has a very innocent look so it can sit right on my desk at work. Stealth is required where I work.
