I just started using cartos on a mech mod and was wondering whats best?

The mech i have is a k100 and gripper (i know its not full mech but is unregulated)

I use low resistance xl cartos not in tanks.

Im always worried about running one too dry and burning it. My first carto i used a few days ago i didnt let it sit after i put juice in it so that it would saturate the wick. I burnt it as soon as i fired it up. I heard dual coil carts are less likely to burn?

Also what brand is better and why? Im currently using smok tech single coil 2 ohm cartos.

My next order ill probably get 1.7 ohm or 1.5s

Ive been dripping and using my agat2 and vivi novas exclusively with my vamo before i got the gripper and k100. So i have no experience with cartos.

If you fill the cartos properly there's no need for it to sit to soak, you can use them right away. When filling, put a toothpick or match into the middle tube, and drip 10 drops, shake until it's soaked in, drip more and repeat until there's coming juice out of the bottom. Wipe it clean and start vaping.. Personally I prefer the single coils. :)

I use the toothpick and thermometer shake method, too.

A common problem with cartomizers is not being able to view the juice level to know when to top them off with more juice. This is why most cartomizer users eventually turn to cartotanks. Tank cartomizers will have pre-drilled holes in them, so when used in a cartotank as you vape juice from the tank replenishes that which is vaped in the carto. Since most tanks are clear, you can easily tell when you need to refill the tank. Most cartotanks hold 2 - 6 ml of juice, so that allows you to go far longer without being concerned about when you need add more juice.

Another option are the mega-huge cartomizers 510 4XL Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer - 1.5 ohm. These hold 4.5 - 5 ml of juice. They are dual coil and 1.5 ohm.

Personally I'm not a fan of dual coils. I prefer a cooler vape, and the dual coils were a little harsh and warm for my tastes. They also will drain your batteries a little faster.

In case you are interested, I've written a blog article on cartotanks here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3710-5-cartomizer-tank-setup.html

Dual coils are just as likely to burn as single coils will. In fact, they are more likely to burn because the top coil (located in the middle third of the carto casing) will probably burn the filler if you don't keep the filler topped off frequently.

The Smoktech single coil carts are a good carto. I use them as my backup carts.

The best carts available are Ikenvape. I use Platinum and 510 Fusions for my tanks. They are an overall better carto than Boge or Smoktech because of better parts and materials and better quality control; this results in better flavor and longer life. They are of limited supply and high demand, so they often are out of stock. Isaac from Ikenvape commissions a China supplier to make his cartos to his strict specs and standards. Imagine if a carto was made in the US; it would be like an IKV cart.
