the real test is how long they last you thru the day... a real one should last about 24 hrs when vaping medium to heavy load with say a 2 ohm coil at 10W. the fakes will last maybe a few hours, if that long....

hmm my built right now is dual coil running at .3 ohms i don't cape hard but i usually swap batteries after a day of use to a fresh new one

It really comes down to knowing your merchant and if they are reputable. I trust what I get from a place like RTD Vapor because they have a long standing reputation. Buy 'em off a mystery seller on eBay or Amazon and you are rolling dice and crossing fingers.

i purchased 4 batteries from fast tech. now i know they sell lots of clones. i went to their discussion boards and supposedly it was confirmed that they sell authentic Sony Batteries. my other 3 batteries i purchased them on ebay from a seller named "r-lsales"

Fasttech does sell a lot of clone items but also carries several authentic items. All their Authentic items will say just that in the title.

This is by far the best advice on batteries. RTD vapor and illumination supply are pretty much the only places I will buy batteries from. Many other places can be a gamble.

Regarding sony batteries, I gutted an old OEM Sony VIAO laptop battery. After finding out which was the dead cell, I did notice there was some degree of difference with the batteries, different silk screening on them. I would have a hard time believing a Sony OEM battery used a blend of "fakes" and OEM cells.

oh and btw I have gutted about 5 laptop batteries, all OEM (Dell, Sony and HP) and have found various marks that look like they were made with a sharpie marker.

hmm does that mean big manufacture companies that provide batteries for their products contain some fakes in them. very interesting
