Yo! I just got some new Sony 30A batteries which I ordered from fasttech

The first two discharges were OK, but as they are breaking in they are behaving better and better

I just removed a microcoil from my RM2 and went for a mini-coil with Ekowool

7 wraps of kanthal 26g on a 2 mm Ekowool sleeve, inserted a 1/16" drill bit inside for wrapping

.5 Ohms, fresh battery is giving 3.53 Volts

that is a sweet 23.9 Watts!!!!!!!!!

cotton has a slight edge on flavor though, but I'm loving Ekowool now! can take any dry hit without breaking all apart of start tasting weird

Highly recommended combo! and I expect it to get better as the batteries have a couple more charging cycles on them!

Yo super, looking great!

but what are the advantages of a cone coil?

may try that in the future

Thanks bro. One side heats at a slightly different rate than the other resulting in a slightly different flavor profile on my nic base. I tend to fire and hit simultaneously and my hits last 3-4 seconds. If I fire for 3 seconds then hit, the vape is a whole different animal.

My normal style = Marlboro light type vape.
Fire for a few seconds then vape = hot boxed Marlboro Red type vape :)

2 vape personalities in one build. I like it :)

Just curious, why are you only getting 3.53v on a fresh battery?

Do the Sony's not charge to 4.2v?

he's measuring the voltage actually getting to the coil. All mods have voltage drop to varying degrees; this one has ~0.67 volts lost to the body of the mod, with a 1/2Ω coil. That's actually pretty darn decent for a mech mod with a safety spring in it.

I always did wonder if the spring was designed that way or if it was just coincidence. I thought it was just a coincidence but pretty much the majority of resistance I measure in my Reos are through the spring itself. I wanted to replace the spring with ones that I use in flashlights but then again I think I would rather just have that "safety" feature rather than if for some rare case something might want to happen close to my face. I highly doubt it but ya never know. It's less than 1 tenth of an ohm so I don't care.
