Hi all, I'm about to buy a bottom feeder (very very likely a REO Grand) and I'm wondering about the batteries that I could use with it.

I know the recommended ones are AW IMR, but I do not own any 18650 AW (I do have a couple 18500) and use instead Panasonic Hybrid on all my mods as well as provari

on the provari, I use some flat top Panny CGR18650xx (can't recall the xx), I put a rare earth magnet + a drop of crazy glue on each side (carefully not covering the top of the magnet for better conductivity) and it has worked flawlessly for the past 9 months. not a glitch and a good 24 + hrs runtime at 5+V

With the reo though, I read about someone melting (that's the word used, I'm assuming it's the spring) their REO by using a sony 30A battery.

What do you guys use BESIDES AW batteries? 1600 mAh for $10 ~ $13 seems expensive IMO (if they were 2600+ mAh I wouldn't mind)

Would these top button Li-Ion, protected Pannys work? $14.14 Panasonic Protected NCR18650A Rechargeable 3100mAh 3.7V 18650 Lithium Batteries 2-pack - authentic cells / 2-pack / overcharge + over-discharge protection at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

any other recommendation besides AW are welcomed!

Don't use those Panas, the ones to use are the Pana NCR18650CH and NCR18650PD.
I use both in my Grand, and the battery life and general performance is incredibly good.
Especially the PD's. After a 7.5 hour work day the battery is still at 3.9 volt when I come home, amazing stuff. :)

just checked, I have 4 CH (gray ones) and 2 PD (green ones, using one right this second)

use one green and one gray on the provari with the magnet trick

how do you accommodate for the button top need in your REO? mine are all originally flat-top

No need for any magnet trickery, both works perfect in a Grand as is. :)
