AFAIK no one has ever received counterfeit batteries from FT. If someone has, please correct me.

If they are counterfeit, they will probably not handle high amp draw as well as the real ones do and voltage drop will be higher than appropriate at set resistances in known PVs. Hard to get a good handle on, but I can tell you that in my clean K100 at about 0.6 ohms with a fairly new VTC3 I got around 0.4V drop under load with freshly charged batteries. If I did that check and found a much higher voltage drop I would worry about it.

Are these batteries better or just as good as AW IMR 1600 mAh? Also, are they as safe as the AW? I am thinking about placing an order on fasttech as they are 1/2 the price as AW's.

Thanks,

Spend a little more, and get the vtc4(2100mAh) or vtc5(2600mAh). They all have the same continuous rating, 30Amps.. The sony's have proven to have the least amount of voltage drop of other available 18650 batteries. AW gets the first picks out of batteries thrown out by major companies, and they sell them as AW's.. So yes, sony's are just as safe...
