Ok I know this has been asked a million times but I didn't find anything posted recently. I just bought 4 sets of VTC4 two of them look %100 authentic, but according to the date code they were made in 2015. The other two look authentic but the RU (or UL) code is in line with the SE 18650 VTC4 C4 lettering. Everything else looks authentic the qr code is different on every battery. Sorry no photos my camera is at work.

'Sony' batteries are one of the most often counterfeited battery's.
Depending on the plant they were manufactured in there can be slight variations in the 'lettering' from what one might see on a cell from another SED plant.
The only protection a normal consumer has when buying batteries is to only buy from reputable highly recommended sources.
Just me, I don't recommend Sony batteries, for many reasons.
