Sooooo I ordered a cpu ...

So I joined this community recently but wanted to hear what you guys think. I've only been doing this for 7 - 8 days but have moved very quickly from a beginner to a more advanced user fairly quickly.

I want to start building my own computer. So I purchased an Intel chip, no pc case yet.

Intend to source everything else myself locally and build it from scratch! Anybody try this yet?

I suppose soldering is a non issue for you? Lol how about the casing? You may still need to do some light drilling/sanding work for the switches. You tube got tutorial.
Real tempted to DIY too, but too damn lazy!

Yes I've soldered my own wires before! And am sure the rest will just happen.

Its not that hard actually. And its easy to get the components for casing and hardwares. My first rig was done DIY. Fixing it up can be a challenge if your case is small. I'll be doing my own Rig soon when if can get the latest chipset. Heck you can even design your own case with a 3D printer.

sounds like fun, I was thinking of setting one up as well with my soldering iron actually in my storeroom unused for a long time was thinking of getting the latest chip to do it on where apparently it can handle .02 tc :/ however case hard to design without the appropiate hardware

The idea of a case.. is just a box. Up to you how you wanna put the mb in place. Button Switches can easily be found in SLT. These are fairly easy to work with if you have the tools or send it in to workshops for drilling and cutting.

Yah, not so worried about everything else. Solder myself, buy parts from SLT, just gotta wait for my CPU.

Box, i'll take my time to think about it. Have considered 3D printing, or maybe even working with wood to custom a box.

I've come across a site with the 3d printing schematics somewhere of a very specific case. But personally I love boxes, they're versatile to work with. Hammond.

Chk out the dna200 thread.. Some did 3d printing for the casing.. Not sure if any local shop do it tho.. Might cost a bit

For the sense of accomplishment.. To use something you build yourself is different from just buying off the shelve..
