Hi guys,
I had sore throat since the first week I vape, I have been vaping for 2 months and 2 weeks, the inflammation still come and go
Is the sore throat caused by the liquid or the device (to much heat maybe)?

What can I do, to find a better liquid? Or a better device ( I have been using joyetech 510 CC 5V 4Watt, China Premium Brand)?
If it is the liquid which composition is better? Higher PG or Higher VG?
If the device, please make some recommendation for me about the specification and feature, for example dual coil, how many watt and voltage.

The sore throat is annoying in the morning, so I am still smoking traditional cigarette
Please help me so I can keep vaping

Thanks a lot guys, i'm looking forward for the reply

It sounds like you are trying to quit smoking and sore throat is a common symptom when quitting. It doesn't make a lot of sense - if you actually quit - but it is a common thing some people quitting smokes go through. In other words, it may have little or nothing to do with your vaping at all, especially if you haven't completely quit and keep going back and forth.

The other issue is PG in liquids is a known irritant and its what gives you that "throat hit" sensation. Different people have different capacity to tolerate it so try different liquids with a high amount of VG in it instead of what you are using now.

First and foremost, make sure you're drinking enough water!!! A Lot of water. Both PG and VG will tend to dry out tissues extremely (PG is worse).

What equipment are you using, and what e-liquid (and where do you get it?) You mention "China Premium Brand", can you be more specific? Do you get it locally, or from a website?

I am using MountBaker USA liquid, buyed from local online shoping website. the equipment is Joyetech 510CC (5Volt, 4Watt)
I think the sore throat is not from the smoke of traditional cigarette, but because the heat of liquid, since the Joyetech 510 cc is low voltage and low watts.
So, I think I need a better liquid brand (with higher/ full % VG). Is there any brand besides heavenly heather?
Can the ability of the equipment help? Should I buy another e-cigar so the sore throat may disappear?

What do you guys recommend for the liquid brand and equipment (specification please?)?

Vaperoo out of San Diego, California makes 100% VG juice exclusively. I recently discovered them and am a huge fan of their Devil's Cut, which they describe as a bourbon infused vanilla almond. It's lovely, IMO.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to give these guys a try. Are their liquids pre-steeped?

By my experience, the most irritant substance in e-liquid is nicotine. I had to switch from 24 to 18 mg/ml lately because of throat and gum irritations when vaping for too long at home. I will take another step down in few months, but this time will be for nicotine detox not for irritations.
The second substance likely to produce irritation is polypropylene glycol, it takes on the throat and the gums, it causes a sort of shrinkage of the tissue due to dehydratation. As this effect is less prounounced with glycerine, and as others have suggested, you may switch to 100percent VG e-liquid to reduce inflamations. VG only liquids have their problems, as they do not work in all clearos and tanks, kills coil faster, may produce many dry hits because of higher density. Plus, the VG-only juice is much sweeter.
A friend got an Atlantis tank, put the 24 mg PG-only berry juice in it. This is the liquid he uses normally in CE4 and Vivis. Well, he got a burned throat in less than a blink of an eye. But this because the Atlantis feeds three times the amount of liquid when you vape. Switched to 6 mg/ml, 20PG/80VG, now is happy vaping with the Atlantis. Just paying three times more for the same effect, except he now make giant clouds.
Check the composition of your liquid, decrease nic content and increase VG content until you do not get inflamations anymore. As others said, vape fluid is dehydrating tissues, so keep drinking while you vape.

Pg would be the first offender.. Pg Drys me out and you have to drink a Lot of water throughout the day. The dryness can irritate your throat... I vape 100vg. VG can be too heavy for some so try the 70vg/30pg - 80vg/20pg blends too. Many are happy at 50/50 but water needs to be drank too.

Essentially when your body is adjusting to vaping you need water either way..

Don't take so many lung hits, you want to start at mouth to lung, cigar hits to let you body adjust.. I didn't direct lung hit for a couple months when I started.

Too much nic can irritate as well if you lung hitting.
Your device isn't really that much power, maybe a really short drip tip, atty is exasperating it.

 Please have your doctor take a "swab" test on your throat to determine it is not bacterial, fungal or viral.

I would rule out those things before trying to figure out what "part" of vaping might be causing it.

It is winter, and these things can last a long time and keep coming back, low grade, esp. from low humidity in the air combined with dehydrating effects of PG/VG. Keep in mind that the most common cause of irritation in the throat is an infection.

You are still a smoker, and have been a smoker. ANY changes in throat, mouth, etc. should always be checked out carefully. We are all at risk for smoking related problems, even after quitting smoking.
