Sorry for the subject but I have to know about the asparagus like effect.

So since about my fourth day vaping I've noticed a very strong odor coming from my urine. It has only gotten worse as my sense of smell has returned from years of analog abuse. So I need to know if this is normal. Does this happen to everyone else or should I worry? I've tried guzzling bottles and bottles of water which does dilute the smell, but it is still there. Couldn't tell you what it smells like but it did remind me of my first e-juice because I did not know about steeping at the time. So maybe it's PG or VG like smell?

Edit:Maybe I should have been more clear. This definitely started around the time I started vaping. When I vape less it is certainly less distinctive. No one else experiences this?

Ickers topic. lol

Ok, you already know vaping can head you toward dehydration. So drinking enough/more/extra liquids is a good thing.

It could very well be your sense of smell is already recovering and what you are "experiencing" right now is a new normal for you.

Gross stuff: Dark urine can be an indicator of dehydration. A good color is light/pale yellow.

And of course: whenever in doubt seek a medical opinion.

I am also in Md. The weather has been bad in the last week and a half. Dehydration has been common and even a heat related death.

You should go on a Water regiment to not only hydrate but purge toxin build up.

Vaping has little to do with it in this weather, though it can contribute. Now that the heat wave has broken you should be able to normalize fairly quick. If not, see a Doctor.

I'm a member of the military so I have extensive experience with dehydration and the affects. I try to remain as hydrated as possible. I'm rarely without a bottle of water and have upped my intake by about 2 bottles a day since I started vaping 2 months ago.
I'm guessing this isn't normal then? I really hope I don't have to quit vaping...that would completely suck!

I had the same thing. I also commented here on the forum a few years ago about it. Mine went away a few months after quitting smoking. I think it was all the nasty tar and smoke in my skin and body being cleansed out.

Good to hear that. Thanks for the info. I'm fairly active and do exercise regularly so I'm hoping it will go away soon. I guess if not I'll check in with the Docs.

You should be fine, but just be mindful and if things get worse don't hesitate to see someone.
I'm almost 60, lost 40 pounds to health issues over a year ago. Stopped smoking, started Vaping and have been steadily getting better. I truely believe there are very few negative things Vaping can amplify. I have not personally seen even the Allergies some mention and I have converted about 20 vapers locally.
There can always be the one off deal. the 1 in a million that does have negative reactions.

..Took some guts to ask that question, but I'm glad you did. The quality of the answers says a lot about the ECF community.

I'm about a month into vaping now and just had a session with my doc, who has been trying everything from Big Pharma to get me off analogs. I told him I was trying e-cigs - he was actually a bit relieved and pleased..he told me to monitor my body for changes and report in right away with any concerns.

Good to hear another convert has dropped analogs. Best decision I've made since I married my wife. Welcome to the e-cig forums and yes the quality, quantity, and maturity of these forums is a refreshing change from the normal internet cesspools. I knew I'd get some straight answers here, that's why I asked. :)

Yup, my doc was positive when she found out I was on e-cigs also. While they would probably prefer not doing either, they seem to at least be positive to the change from Cigs to E-Cigs.

Wow, that is weird. At first my pee smelled like a rancid sulfur egg fart combined with Malibu rum. I'd be ...... in public restroom and inevitably some one would say "is tha sun tan lo...WTH is that hideous smell?" That only last a few weeks. Now my pee smells like potpourri. People have invited me over before parties just to pee in their houseplants just to freshen up the place. I'm thinking of making a business out of it.

Well, dehydration will definitely do that but you say you've been drinking water (by the way, guzzling's not as good an idea as sipping regularly). So if it's not that, there is another possibility...

It's always been that way.

How do I put this delicately? In my experience, trips to the bathroom become more... um... aromatic as your sense of smell returns. It's not that the, ahem, fragrances have changed, it's more that you can... experience them with, erm, greater appreciation than before...

Lol thanks for putting that so delicately mkbilbo. Nicely done. I'm pretty sure it wasn't always like that though. Even my wife has commented on it more than once.

Edit: Not that she goes around smelling my urine  she just happens to be walking through our bathroom on the way to the shower in the morning or on occasion when I'm doing my business.

Now my pee smells like potpourri.

I'm giving thought to adopting that as a new signature line. Be warned.

Back to the question: I haven't had a change in urine odor or color since taking up vaping, but that did occure after an acupuncture session. It were rank, let me tell you.

:D

You know, it's actually hard to say. Somewhere along the line, I read (and heard) that smoking affects the smell of your urine. It would make sense that quitting would also affect it. And there are so freaking many chemicals in tobacco smoke (4,000 is the number I see often... which is a lot), dumping them can cause all kinds of crazy at first. Since you're talking only four days, your body is just starting to make a big adjustment. You're still getting the nicotine but the other 3,999 chemicals are gone. That's pretty major.

I had some really oddball side effects. Weird dreams for one. Very... weird dreams. Other folks here I talked to reported the same thing. Strange, nutty dreams. It went away after a while. And though I was having bizarre dreams, I was sleeping better (I sleep like a dead man these days, it's great, haven't slept so "deep" since I was in my 20s or early 30s).

Meaning there are going to be side effects that aren't because of the vaping but are because of the quitting smoking. Lot of the stuff that happens, you just have to get through. I mean if something strange persists, get to a doctor. But it really is a big shift and... I dunno anybody could sort out which chemicals do what exactly. There's just too freaking many.
