Speaking of research, I was looking into what would happen if the malic acid were to combine with the nicotine. If any combination was to occur it would likely produce nicotine malate, which is in itself a naturally occurring form of nicotine. Nicotine and Malic acid are both commonly found in plants.
I've redacted most of the article and URL because some of this article is absolute BS in my opinion but it is an interesting read. Somewhere it states nicotine is "A good explosive," which can't be accurate. Perhaps slightly explosive under the absolutely perfect (worst case scenario) conditions. I could go on. If you want to read the article Google it, I'm not going to propagate false info... Most of the text has been posted here in the forums at one time or another.
Anyway a long story short, it could make your nic juice a little weaker.

Mail always comes late here, but I got the malic acid along with my Tekk mod. I was holding out to order more 306 atties, but Ikenvape had to send them back because of too many failures for his standards. I think I am going to break down and get something so I can finally start to test more juices.
I de-wicked my 306, so hopefully it doesn't hold flavors or the sourness. We'll see. I'm debating how strong I want to mix my base. Probably I am just going to follow your method to compare and make a small batch first. Here's what I have that might work "soured", Flavor Apprentice unless specified, roughly in the order I will try them w/ malic:
(DV) Sour Cherry - This one isn't so sour on its own, more like cherry pie filling, but it is very good
Pineapple - not bad, kind of candy-like. It might be able to be made more genuine adding apple or other flavors
Key Lime - very good/genuine flavor already, just needs sour
Lemon - not my favorite on it's own, needs something
Cranberry - fairly genuine but like what you would get from flavored vodka, think it needs notes added, but should work sour
Apple/Green Apple - didn't try yet, might try mixing them 1 drop at a time in the atty too
Raspberry - didn't try yet, smells like some certain blue raspberry candy I've eaten but can't recognize. It's like a less-commonly used "blue raspberry"
Blackberry - didn't try yet, smells kind of artificial
Pear - Love this stuff and have been vaping it pretty often in my daily routine, might try mixing it with something else to go sour, but can't decide what goes with pear.
Plum - Smells rather genuine, might be good sour.
I also have Cherry Blossom, Blackcurrant (DV), and MTS Vape Wizard to try in case I foul something up. I heard ecigexpress will start carrying FA in 6ml sizes, so if they are as competitive as they are for other things, I might try some of their fruits too.

Hey Seth, I got my malic acid today. Thank you! I am a carto user. I may wait to get my Clearomizers on Monday or Tuesday to try any of the sour juice that I make.
BTW- Cherry and Pear go quite well together.

Great, that's awesome. I can't wait to here what others think. I think it might be OK in a carto if you went easy on it. I wouldn't sacrifice a new one though.
I just ordered some Clearomizers for myself yesterday! I hope they work out. To me they look like the best of both worlds - atty vs carto.

I made 8ml of 25% solution in PG (1/2 tsp malic acid). IDK why I didn't feel like boiling water last night, so I just was throwing the bottle in a little cup of hot tap water. A few of those with some shaking got it mixed and it is clear and thick. It holds air bubbles really well even compared to VG, so I had to make sure it was bubbles and not crystals.
I had about 1ml of mixed DV sour cherry leftover and added ~15 drops SC, 10 drops malic acid and just filled the rest of the 6ml bottle with my 75/25 nic base. Based on your formula, I should have put 12 drops, but I was worried about making it too sour. My atty was acting weird, thought it might be going bad because of the acid, but it calmed down and I think it just happens sometimes.
I'm not really getting anything sour from this amount though. There was like a faint trace of sourness or tingle in my throat on a couple hits only. It might have had a subtle effect on balancing the sweetness of the juice but not much else. Now I tried the correct 2 drops of solution per ml of juice in a key lime mix and not any sourness, so I upped it to 3 drops/ml and still nothing much.
Something is happening to the juice, and my atty seems to be getting "crackley" more often than usual. I was expecting a lasting sourness coating my mouth and some throat irritation, but getting almost none even at 3 drops/ml. I'm wondering if this is because I am using a de-wicked 306 and you need your wicking to be accumulating crystals into repeated heatings or something. I also had no EM in these mixes, but I don't see why that would change things.
Any ideas?

OH YEAH! The gigantomizers are to be released after the Chinese Holiday and I will be trying a few for sure. A friend sent me a clearomizer to try and it is the mid range ohms. It has tons of vapor but I am not impressed with the TH. I have the higher ohms on the way and hoping that makes a difference with TH. I normally use the Ikenvape mega 808s and so far I have not tried any better. They just got the Gold V2 Drip Style 510s in stock and I know people that love them so I ordered a few. For the price of them they really better be good.
I do have a box of some old V4L cartos and I will experiment with the sour juice in those. I also have some washed that I can try it in. Did you say that you mix it with 25% malic acid to 75% PG? Maybe I will try it at 10-15% MA.
Oops, just read the post above. I guess that I am really going to have to work on this.

So has anyone else gotten this to work? Please say what atty you all are using. I'm not risking another atty, still waiting for IKV to restock. All of the sour cherry & lime flavor has cleared out of the de-wicked 306 as I just started vaping other stuff.
I missed that you said you ordered clearomizers Seth. I heard about them cracking too. The plastic is the cheap/brittle kind. I made the mistake of ordering 25 various clearomizers and I hate them. Supposedly I might get ones that aren't funky if I keep dipping into the pack, but I am just going to pawn them off. They perform better in syringe mods, but they still always have some off flavor (I vape lighter flavors a lot). I also noticed that clear juices will turn gold/brown after a while if you just keep topping them up. Maybe that is the nic oxidizing.

I love the ceramic design with the wicks and no poly but your right about the cracking on the clear ones. They have metal ones (ordered some chrome plated ones yesterday). Don't supper glue the clear ones cause that eats through the plastic also, haha. It wasnt the malic acid that cracked mine, i just bust them all the time by slamming into stuff. I'm doing 10% malic acid in redbull and im in heaven.

So did this work for you guys? I still didn't try on an atty that is wicked because I am low on them, but I got no sourness. I did get some sort of negative side effects though, which were apparent from just a hit or two the second time I tried. I don't think it was anything poisonous, just the acid causing mucus buildup I guess, but still this was a bust for me. Really curious if it is all about the wicking.
@aprioristic I'm using standard Joye 510 atties. What concentration are you mixing?
I just ordered some cartos and a couple atties, but I am not sure I even want to try again. I think I am mixing at the same concentration you said, just I doubled the recipe. I put 1/2 teaspoon in 8ml PG.

How many drops are you adding to you mix, have you tried increasing it?
The souring agents definitely crack the plastics, it is a chemical reaction of some sort with this acid , I have been using it for quite some time now. I have used it on the original maptanks and it cracked them when I loaded them up with sour apple, I have used the newer stronger maptanks with the souring acids and made sour apple and used it in these newer stronger maptanks and it hasn't shattered them like the older maptanks but it has started to crack them but slower, I have one that has cracks all over it and I'm using it but just waiting for them to crack all the way through, it also starts cracking from the inside and moves to the outside so I know for sure it is the acids, it also does it on the clearomizers too, until they find a plastic or Lexan that has a make up that is safe to use acids this is going to happen. If someone knows otherwise I would like to hear about it, because I've been trying to find something that's wont crack
As far as Atty's and any metal cartos with filler, I have had NO issues what so ever using the souring acids
I think I posted it already. I followed your recipe, just doubled. Then, I started out a tad lower than your drops/ml (like 15%) but ended up going even higher (+50% IIRC).
It really could just be the lack of wick in the 306 I was using. I have a bunch of cartos I could test on again, but I really didn't enjoy the effects I got before. I could tell that something was there but sensed very little sourness. I had some sort of small cut around the edge of my nostrils that got irritated (think I nose exhale a lot more than analogs). I really felt like it made it impacted my breathing. I think way back in this thread I posted something about an animal study and (maybe it was citric acid) how that works with respiration. Some sort of chemical interaction...
Maybe there is no issue and I am imagining it. Maybe I have an uncommon sensitivity. I'll probably give it another go sometime, but I was hoping to see others' experiences and will proceed more cautiously.
