I'm still pretty new to the game, but I can tell that DIY is where I will end up.

That said, my passion seems to be "real" as opposed to candyish fruit flavorings. Towards that end, I'd like to investigate vendors who supply natural flavorings suitable for the work.

I would be grateful to hear any recommendations for vendors who can provide that sort of flavoring. It may be that I've just missed that info in the threads I've read.

Well I'm a noob too. I know that flavorings are really more of a smell than a real flavor. I'm going to try a couple essential oils. Essential oils are strong and natural but you still have to know which ones have what effect and if they can be used on the skin or put in food. If so how much do they need to be diluted. I have dealt a lot with essential oils in other areas and use a couple drops of orange water in my mop water when I clean house. I am going to try a 1% eucalyptus e juice. I buy most of my essential oils from Essential Oil University.

Just a couple things, and I'll leave it to the authorities on the subject to confirm or clarify, but I think a problem with natural flavorings may be that it limits the shelf life quite a bit. Also, being ignorant, essential oils sounds like it is, well, oil-based. Oils have a tendency to muck up atomizers, so I believe it's one of those things that's used sparingly or with special treatment to mitigate that a bit.

Pros, please feel free to jump in and straighten me out as necessary.

The flavorart fruit flavors all have a nice natural fresh fruit taste rather than the more candylike flavors you find with LorAnns. Most of The Perfumers Apprentice Flavors are natural fruit flavored as well, those that ARE candy-like are usually noted as such in the descriptions. If you want actual NATURAL flavorings, rather than flavorings that just taste like the actual fruit, Nature's Flavors : Organic Flavoring Systems for Coffee & Tea has natural flavors, I have not tried many of them but I do know that several of them contain oils. Oils are not strictly forbidden in the DIY world, but most people shy away from them because they have a tendency to clog up attys. You can reduce this tendency by mixing them with a little alcohol (pure grain or very high proof vodka works best)

Thank you! That's what I was looking for, recommended vendor names! I learned about FlavourArt just an hour or so ago, but the rest are new to me, or in the very least I didn't know they had availability of natural flavorings.

I'm willing to risk shortened atty life for realistic flavors. There's just an added level of complexity to the "real thing" which I can't resist.

The experiment will soon begin! Well, kind of soon. At my current vaping rate it will be a month before I get near running out. lol

I was just looking at 'One Stop DIY Shop" website and saw this:

"LorAnns new Natural flavor line!

These natural flavors are produced in a base of vegetable glycerin and/or natural grain alcohol and contain no added sugars or fats.

These flavors are not as concentrated at the super strength candy oils we offer, so please keep that in mind."

I have never tried them - They were priced 6ml for $2
