Like a lot of people, I carry a handful of loaded cartos around with me as I can't always top off the one I'm using and it's easier to swap in a different carto when my current one starts going dry.

I've always left the little, white mouthpiece on my spares (along with the condoms), but I use a drip-tip when I actually vape them, which means I've got to remove the mouthpiece every time I switch cartos. Is there any point to leaving that mouthpiece on, or do you guys just leave the mouthpiece off your spares and use the condoms only? I'm a little nervous that they would dry out more quickly, but I suppose the condoms would keep that from happening.

I'm usually in the car when I need to swap them out, and getting that mouthpiece off can be a pain if I don't have a paper clip or something handy.

Actually I doubt many experienced ecig users complicate the crap out of things like you seem to be doing.

Yeah, well ... and actually many experienced ecig users are more than willing to help out the newbies so that their switch from analog to ecig is a bit easier. We all have had some problems with the gear in the past that turned out to be soooo easy to correct thanks to helpful advise on the forums.

HeadLikeOrange, if you carry them with you, I would leave the mouth piece on to keep things a bit more sanitary (and remember to carry a paper clip or - better and easier to work with - a CD player opener with you).

What is a CD player opener?

I usually carry 2-3 cartos with the top condom cap on, sometimes both. With the caps on, I've used a filled cartos at least 2-3 weeks after I initially filled it with no problems. Might have to top off.

Swigger, it's a small piece of wire (stronger than a paper clip, but same gauge) that comes with a CD Player. In case your player doesn't open, you stick it in the little hole to manually eject the tray. Here's a pic (I'm using the sugar pack for size reference):

Use pliers to put a small hook on the short end and you've got a sturdy multipurpose tool that fits in the wallet, ecig case or anyplace else you need it. The hook removes inner seals from cartos and gets a better grip of mouth piece ends and the larger straight end pulls the stud further out of the carto/atomizer, etc. in case you are having problems getting a connection to the battery "ruffle" up poly fiber, punch holes through enclosed cartos (such as eGo mega) to insert a needle, etc.

I'm probably one of the worst for 'over complicating' things, but hey, I have my reasons, after all I'm inhaling something into my lungs, I keep my sons nebule capsules and other respiratory equipment sterile so doing the most with my cartos comes naturally.

My prefilled cartos come in foil sealed packets and stay there till I need them, once opened, if I'm switching between flavours, when not in use I wipe the outside with a mediwipe, put the condom covers back on and then keep them in zip-lock bags. Blank cartos, when filled get the same treatment, condoms back on and into zip-lock bags.
I ditch the little rubber bungs (I use the screw driver out of my glasses repair kit) since they are too fiddly and use drip tips (that I wiz through a steam sterilzer every night).

As I said I'm probably more fanatical than most but I don't want to be vaping the lint and crap out of my pocket.

With regards to cartos drying out, I only find that to be a problem if I'm in an airconditioned environment or somewhere with de-humidifiers (ie work) but keeping the covers on sure does help here.

My experience is that complicated equipment and procedures lead to frustration with vaping and eventual return to smoking.

I just chuck the extra cartos in an old Tic-Tac box.
