Hi...happened after my last coil build.

on my RM2...7 wraps of twisted 28 kanthal, 0.56 ohms on a stock grand. Sony 30 amp flat top battery, noalox on my pin (will put more on when home).

Any ideas as to how to fix the spark? Any danger? Will my button melt? :( The spring is not getting red.

Sparking occurs with and without an o-ring between the RM2 and Grand and with the top cap off, the coil is very tight and is not touching anything it shouldn't be.

The spark ONLY happens when I release the button.

The vape is amazing

It's coming from the firing pin and the battery.

Okay, as long as it wont blow up and get the battery hot. I have spare parts at home :)

Noalox. Plenty of Noalox on the battery top and the contact point. You may also start getting intermittent firing.

I stopped using coils under 1.0 because of the same issues. I did not want to melt my button.

That seems like pretty low ohm for that coil set up. I just built a 7 wrap 28awg with .055" ID and it came out to 0.75ohm. On a stock REO any thing below .6ohm will start to affect the button and may cause the spring to sag over time. The sparks can also cause pitting of your batts + contact.

The upgraded contact kit will eliminate this problem.

EDIT: Sorry, your ohms are within range, I just reread your initial post and saw that you were useing TWISTED 28awg

Yeah at that ohm you're pushing melted button territory, some do it without problems others get melted buttons. The melted button is not from the sparking but from the firing pin heating up. A poor connection because of oxidation will only make it worse. The sparking is a visual indication of a poor connection. I was getting this on my .7 ohm coils with button top batteries when I forgot to noalox after a cleaning. Liberal use of noalox will stop the sparking but you still might get a melted button.
