Just did an app on my phone to calculate how much I've saved since vaping (45 days), and it turns out that I'm actually spending more money than I would on smokes. I had about 4 packs a week.

However, I'm willing to pay more money to vape just because of the other benefits. Every day feels like an accomplishment, and I feel healthier every day now that I vape (not to mention whiter teeth and no more stink!)

I have so much liquid though, and I keep acquiring new ones all the time. I need to go hibernate with all this juice.

Since you were smoking that little, unless you rebuild your own coils and make your own juice, you will have a hard time spending less. However, as you mentioned, the health benefits outweigh the higher cost. Once you get a setup you like and some juices that you regularly use, it becomes inexpensive.

I spend more per month on vaping, though it is the cost of the juice. The government haven't put the ludicrously high taxes on pipe tobacco yet, so it is still cheaper. All in all, I spend less than $100 per month on vaping, which is faaarrrrr less than I would be spending if I hadn't switched to pipe smoking. Before the switch, I was smoking a least four cartons of cigarettes. Waaaaayyyyy cheaper for me. The health benefits far outweigh the monetary cost IMHO. Good luck and have fun!

How this plays out is entirely up to you. My first two months of vaping were the most expensive, settling into hardware and backups. I'm not fussy about flavors either so there was no mega $$$ 100 bottle all-day-vape chase for me. I liked my first two liquids, liked them enough to keep me from wanting to smoke, and that's all that mattered for me for nearly nine months. I spent more than on smoking in my first two months. I started saving money in month three. My average now is about $75.00 a month. And that's still in context of spending way more than I ever needed to on shiny new toys and enough liquids to probably last for the next 8 months. What you "need" in this game is a very broad scale.

PallMall stinkies only cost me $3.47 a pack and I was smoking around a pack and a half a day so it's takem me longer to reach that break even/get ahead point. I don't chase the newest "shinie" gear either. Like someone said I have only 3 juices so no ADV chasing there either. Not smoking..PRICELESS..

Space Jam is not one of the cheapest juices, lol. Not sure what that other one is, but it looks on the more expensive side as well.

I mostly use DIY juices, but splurge every now and then for the higher priced stuff (using Space Jam Astro, atm). The higher priced stuff does cut into saving significantly. As long as you are happy with what you are doing, though, carry on!

I was spending more on vaping in the beginning, but that was mostly trying to figure out what gear worked best for me. It took about 3 months for it to equalize, and now I'm actually spending less. Of course I smoked 1 1/2 PAD, so "saving" is a little easier for me.

Same for me, for the first month I was buying EGO rigs, a Protank, various clearos, Vision 1300 spinners and stuff like that. Then I got a mech, then an RBA, and once I had a supply of mesh and kanthal I started saving over having to buy new Protank heads all the time, then I started making my own juice, which saved me a lot. I was spending around $50 a week on juice. Looking back, that's just insane.

its a shame cigarette prices are so low in some parts of the country.
i hope it doesn't keep to many people from quitting.
no worries in good old Taxasota though.
heres my 117 day price break down.

19 30 ml bottles of various flavored juices.
3 v2 starter kits containing 1 ,260 mah batt,charger,and cartridge.
this was before i discovered this forum and the internet sales
possibilities and a better B&M locally.
4, 5 pack prefilled v2 menthol.i bought 1 local the others off
the net.i'm starting to catch on at this point.
2 1100 mah ego upgrade batts.1 c,and 1 t.both came with pass-thru
chargers.
1 6xx mah egoc upgrade.my local shop let me get a regular ego/510 charger
so i would have 2 of each.
1 generic 510/ego starter kit with 1 6xx mah batt,charger,and ce4 tank.
2 kr808d1 xl 390 mah manual batts from the net.getting the hang of this
now.
1 generic ego/510 6xx generic batt, this was early on as a back up
for the genaric starter kit.
2,5 packs of v2 blank cartridges.these are not any where near as
good for refilling as there prefilled ones.i don't know why but there
not.

total cost=$695.00.

i quit smoking july 24 2013 for health reasons and the recent huge
tax increase.
my old brand of smokes now costs $7.60 a pack at 2 packs a day
would have cost me $1778.40.
subtract my cost in vaping that's a total savings of $1083.40.

regards
mike

after almost 2 years i DIY juice now, cost about 20 bucks to make a 16 oz bottle.
I use rbas cost is about 15 cents a coil
bought a new mod a few months ago to play with and constant junk from fasttech lol. but over all I dont think i spend over 50 bucks a month anymore averaged out.

it is nice being able to spend that smoking money on other stuff now, i look around and think man when i was smoking i could never afford that or that or this or .....................

it does help to realize my cigs are 7 bucks a pack and I smoked almost 2 PAD

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
Since I've been exhausted and have discovered the ease of use of cartotanks and a good device with plenty of batteries I haven't been spending anything on vaping at all....lol

If you aren't all wrapped up in chasing the perfect vape (and the novelty does wear off when real life intrudes), you're just in maintenance mode and it's cheap, cheap, CHEAP.

If you have a ton of liquid then you really didn't spend more than smoking, because if you stopped spending right now you'd probably still have enough to last you for the next six months (so calculate the next six months in as well).
If you saw the gallon of propylene glycol, the gallon of vegetable glycerin, the 100ml bottle of 100mg nicotine, and all the flavorings I have you'd see that I'm good for a LONG time...lol

Now that I have my REO + RM2 I am pretty much done with buying hardware.

I ran the numbers the other night.
50 ML of DIY juice costs me LESS than $3 and that is a weeks supply for me so call it $12 a month.
One microcoil on my RM 2 with rolled cotton wick costs me LESS than $.25 a month even with dry burning every other day and changing the cotton. I can easily make the coil last a month.

So Call it $13 a month ongoing expenses. :) Yep I am well into saving money now.

I want tons of mods, but I have 1, it's an eVic. I want a better device, but I'm broke, so I deal with it. Also the eVic is enough to keep me from going and buying a can of snuff. I dipped Copenhagen Black ($5.70ish a can) every two days. When I first started vaping it was expensive getting set up. Now I have my one mod and 3 DCT tanks. Having a local B&M that makes custom ejuice helps, plus they give me military discount. So the money part is swinging back towards "Saving Mode". I think being low on funds helps not buying stuff also LOL.
