Spotted vaper(s) at bedok central coffee shop yesterday

Walked past a coffee shop in bedok central yesterday at around 9pm and saw a vaper puffing at the smoking table. I also saw a ZNA mod sitting on the table beside that vaper openly. If you're from here, my advise is please vape discretely and dont place your vaping gears openly in public. If i can spot them so easily, i'm sure HiShAm can spot them too..

Yes, I maybe the guy you saw that day. I always vape openly in smoking area (note: only in smoking allowed area) and has been doing that for the past 5 months since I totally quit analogues and have not a single problem except now in this forum. I have been a 1.5 pack a day smoker for the past 20 years and nothing (inhaler and gums, not tried patch) has made me quit smoking except ecig. I would not be able to stay away from the analogues for so long if I am not allowed to even vape in public smoking area. I would have been able to get a few colleagues to quit analogues if not because of all these social stigma and the thought of not being able to vape in public.

Furthermore, from what I understand from the statutes under Prohibition of imitation tobacco products;

"16.—(1) No person shall import, distribute, sell or offer for sale any confectionery or other food product or any toy or other article that is designed to resemble a tobacco product or the packaging of which is designed to resemble the packaging commonly associated with tobacco products."

IMHO, they can't really catch you for use or possession of PV (maybe unless if you are below 18). How you not import it but yet have it in your possession is up to your own imagination. I don't see officer going around asking you where you import your chewing gum (which is also illegal to import). I have searched and asked this forum before if anyone has a first hand account of people being fined for vaping, so far I have only heard of 2nd and 3rd hand account of people caught vaping in smoking not allowed area (and only confiscation of PV). I would assume that at most they will do (if you look too suspicious) is to confiscate it to have it tested for drugs. Let me know if you know otherwise...

Therefore, I will repeat this again. Please stop imposing this social stigma for vaping.

Further rant: I have 5k ready if they really want to fine me for quiting cigarettes (will be the 1st to report back here if it really happens, but touch wood). $13 per pack x 1.5 per day x 30 day x 5 months = $2925 saved, I already have a discount from the fine not to mention the improved taste, smell, teeth, appetite and happy family...

TLDR; IMHO, its not illegal to vape, its illegal to import, distribute, sell PV.

Lol.. Technically you are right.. I've always wanted to ask.. Illegal to import/sell/distribute, does it equate to illegal to vape in public? Since we can always argue that we got the device b4 the ban and DIY our juice..

But this happened to me: b4 vaping I bought local cig then went to malaysia. Coming back I showed the immigration officer the local cig. But was directed to the office instead. I was given a stiff warning that bringing in cig is illegal.. Local or not! They will assume otherwise unless I can bring to HSA to test and prove it is local. So it is a case of guilty unless proven innocent.
What I m saying here may not directly apply, but if they want they can always 'apply' the laws and say it is an illegal tobacco product/device unless you can fight it in court to prove otherwise. Money and time. So far we have not had any 'on the ball' officers prowling for vapers.. Meet one and your perspective will change.
There is no right or wrong here, but For me low profile is good. Lie low under the radar..

Looking at your post, I'm sure you can afford a smaller setup and sheath vape.
In sillypore, the law can easily be change. If more vape the way you did,
I'm pretty sure that on the next parliament sitting, something bad upon us will be mention.

Do look into some history of stupid law that have been enforce/used to enforce on us.

- Long hair got to queue the last while visiting government department.
- Tourist with long hair have been ban from entering sillypore
- Gong for Chinese have been ban
- Porn magazine have been ban
- Chewing gum have been ban

I understand yours and other sgvaper's concern. After all, this law that was amended to specifically include e-cig as 'tobacco substitute' were partly due to e-cig getting too popular (especially the young) on this dot.

However, my main priority for vaping is to stay away from the analogues, I don't see how I can do that when I am drinking with my friends or in a smoking area with my smoking friends if I don't vape in public (trust me, stealth vaping don't work in such places and will only raise more eye brows). They have already enough law in place to be able to confiscate your PV, or even prosecute you for importing, why would they need more? Even if they are going to impose stricter law, we are already self banning vaping now with this stigma. That being said, I would choose a 'quieter' coffeeshop next time and most likely keep that sucker in my pocket but you will NOT see me vaping out of a pencil case or into my shirt!

IMO, just be yourself, whatever it takes to stay away from the stinkies or better still quit altogether (my objective too)... Just don't let the social stigma prevent you from quiting smoking using PV or not. <-- words to my colleagues

well we do need more outspoken vapers to step up,
the world is getting smaller, information about vaping is on the tip of our fingers,
if the gov really cares bout the health of its people, they should look into vaping as an alternative to those
who wants to stay off smoking.

Government unbanning vaping ? IF lets say they allow vaping in Sillypore, 1 bottle of juice will cost you maybe 50bucks? And 1 PV will cost you at about 500bucks ?
It's all about tax tax tax. Just like giving GST rebate , in the end they increase this increase that. It's just all for show.
