Spotting a Hana clone?

I was at my local shop last week and got to talking about dna 30 devices, which ended up to talking about wait times. I showed interest in the Hana V3 and they told me they could get a hold of one from their friend ( another shop owner in a diff city I'm assuming ) all I needed to do was give them the go ahead to add it to their next order. I did do that jumping on it because of the short ( 1 week-ish ) wait. Then a few nights ago I was screwing around on ebay and noticed the clone sales for the hana modz V3. They told me they would give me a call when it's in.

So I'm still waiting, but with knowing there are clones out there I was wondering if there is a way to spot one from the other. This way I can give it a good once or twice over before I shell out the cash for it when they do call. Not sure if boxing and or includes will be of import or not, but that would be good to know as well.

The real Hana has hologram logo stickers on the inside, next to the battery compartment. There are other ways, but the sticker should be the easiest.

So logo on the outside is a hologram. You're talking about when you open the panel there will be a sticker in the compartment. Will it be in a designated spot, or just in there in general? If you wouldn't mind listing a few of the others, it would be greatly appreciated.

That was my first thought, but didn't even think to ask. Wonder if there is anyone with some " un-boxing " pics / videos. Didn't seem to find any yet though. Just " reviews ".

No. It just comes with a box and red paper. The real hana is made of aluminum. I hear some of the clones are made of other materials.

I've got a clone on pre-order, but it's still probably a couple weeks away.

The Cloupor clone will not have the Hana logo on the box. That would be dead giveaway.

You heard wrong.

There are lots of rumors being spread about the Hana Modz DNA30 clone. The box is anodized aluminum, just like the original.

The only clone in the wild right now is the Hana Modz DNA20 clone. It has a logo. But it should be easy enough to tell the difference between it and a Hana Modz DNA30 because that clone will only go to 20W.

Actually, none of those come with any kind of certificate.

I havent seen a clone in person yet but I got an authentic hana from one of the first batches they put out back in february. I know there are some that do not have a logo on them but other than that they look like they will be pretty hard to tell the difference between. Not all of the authentic hanas have a hologram (I have only seen a handful that actually do) i dont know why this is inconsistent but I received mine before a hana clone was even thought of and before they were really sought after and mine does not have the hologram sticker. Maybe this is something they started doing on later batches once they heard a clone was being made? If its a shop owner you trust and they say its the real deal and are charging you around 250 (retailers pay 200 for one of them so that would be a good question to throw at him to make sure he paid that much) then you should be good to go. If hes charging under 200 then its a clone or hes doing you a huge favor

Buy your Hanna from an authorized retailer and you won't have to worry.

If you are getting some "hook up" or buying from a non legit retailer, ask yourself why?
To save a buck?
To get a sold-out-item?

Buy only from a legitimate authorized retailer or expect problems

I just got my Hana in from POTV. This is what the internals look like. Comes with the hologram stickers and a deep red window that protects the DNA chip.

Just because of all of the Hana Mod confusion I turned away and picked up a VS-DNA30, it is fine in my opinion and I know it is not a clone. I also can count on a replacement if this one fails rather than waiting really long for Hana to replace a broken or failed Hana Modz DNA30. I wish you all luck in getting your genuine mod.

I love the look of the Hana and the fact I can swap out batteries on top of that sold me. Don't get me wrong, I own a VS DNA 30 as well. They both use the same chip, so they function the same. The selling point of the VS is their tiny body and light weight design.

Yes the VS is quite small and it's definitely smaller than the MVP. My Hana is wrapped with a clear carbon fiber wrap until I find a custom wrap for it.
