Let's say I have a crappy spring in a clone I bought and I want to replace it with a sturdier version. And let's say I know nothing about springs.
1. Where do I go to find a spring that will fit? I've tried the hardware store route and that didn't work out.
2, How does one determine the compression pressure of a spring? In other words, are there specs that will tell you how hard the push is?
3, How does one go about building springs, should it come to that?
Maybe I have other questions, but that'll do for now!

Hardware stores vary greatly. Some might have a lot of choices and others not so much. You might find the right springs at Menard's, Home Depot or Lowes. It's best to buy at a local B&M so you can test the firmness etc.

There is a member here that built springs out of beryllium copper wire . Sorry but I can't remember who it was.

Google beryllium copper springs.
