awesome pics.
what i read online after ordering them made it sound as if they were the reverse.
guess i should snag some ebooks on simple electronic stuff.

i got 30 switches i can use once those come in, 15 already got here from another source (4 prong) and those -no ones are 2 prong.

might just build that 5v booster tomorrow and see how she works.. if at all.

What capacitors are you using?

I'm @ 1 hour with the 14500(above normal usage), still going strong.

Ti recommends 100uf. I've got these: Capacitor 100uf 50V Electrolityc 25 pcs. $4.20 shipped.

I'm just finishing up my second hour with this setup. It's still producing a lot of vapor. The first time I tried 14500s, I only got about 45 minutes.

This box has 100uf 50v caps in it. Another thing, it has open space in it, it's not a real tight fit like the other was.

I'll give it about another hour than I've got to crash. 7am comes way too early.:)

Hey Sci is that with a trustfire 14500? Ive got boosters to put to use and would really like to use the space of 2AA's (not a box though) for a 14500, a booster (with caps) and a recessed misterD TJF pill fob. Spacewise it'll all fit nicely, but if the trustfire wont run the booster or if it'll only run for 2hrs, it doesn't seem worth it-- the 2AA form factor is quite nice though :D. Are you saying that including the caps improved the 14500 performance?

It's an ultrafire. I got almost 3 hrs. out of it last nite. It wasn't a fresh charge when I put it in the box though, it was down to 3.94v. I've got 2 fully charged ones that I am going to use today.
Today, I'm using a box I built for an 18650(with room to spare). I'm using regular electrolytic 100uf 50v caps on this booster. If I get a good run out of these today, I'll put together a smaller box with the same caps to make sure it's not a heat issue. The box I originally tried the 14500 in has a booster with the loesr 100uf 10v(surface mount) caps in it & I only got 45 minutes out of a 14500 with it. That box was made for an 18500, it's a 9v battery box. Sometimes, I'll get a whole day out of an 18500 with it, most times, not. It quits producing when the 18500 gets to around 3.9v. That tends to tell me it's the caps, I'll find out in the next couple of days & post the results.

You like the 2AA size stuff, check out this thread(the beginning of it)-http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/96188-eclipse-mints-tin-mod.html.

if you want a long running 5v mod you can go with 18650 battery from trustfire @ 3000mah.

Hi Sci,
Will be waiting to hear if the larger caps will make a single 14500 usable with a 5v booster.
I know the 18500s work real well, but what a pain in the behind trying to find or make a battery holder for em.
unless you go flashlight or pipe.:D:vapor::vapor:

I got 4 hours out of the 14500. It's still producing, but it's very weak. That's not bad for a 14500 @ 5v. I'll post more info on it later.
You can put an 18500 with a booster in this one - 9 volt Battery box with on/off switch. I'll post a pic tonite.

sci did you get a duracell box?
i have one sitting here but wondering if there is already a booster board in there since it is susposed to charge ipods and w/e else.
i have yet to take it apart, been modding thick sponges to make spongebob with the kids.. might try and pop it open now

I got a few of those(thanks Sassy!). The board that is in them puts out 5v, but not enough current to make an atty heat up. I'm going to try a pair of 14500s in parallel, when I get time, & see if that works better than a single one with the Ti booster. With that duracell box, you could always run 2 14500s in series with a regulator & get 5v.
Check out that link I posted a few posts back. There is a lot you can do with an Eclipse Mints tin. I use one as my everyday vape.:)
