Hey all

got my first REO today, bought it from Deacon987 in the Classified Grand SL / LP has an Atomic on it. has both duals working, but, Im thinking about taking one coil out... seems a little hot for my taste..

Anyway.. can't see the airholes well enough in the dark.. any tricks to sqounking when you can't see if juice hit the air hole?

thanks!

Good to see you take the plunge XB - I know from other threads you've been Reo-curious. :toast:

You'll get to know your squonking needs pretty quickly. One of the best ways is to remove the drip tip and watch through the top hole as you squonk to observed the juice flowing into the chamber. Do this for various bottle fill levels to learn the different behaviour for a full bottle versus a half bottle versus...

Once you know how long to press the bottle for, you'll be able to squonk without looking like a pro (honestly, like, within an hour of watching).

Alternatively, some people also squonk right after taking a vape and wait for the sound of juice hitting the warm coil (slight "cooking" sound).

In the meantime, turn on a light.

Do not worry friend, you'll see that in a short time, the gesture will be automatic, instinctive, and you will not be obliged to check the hole! :)
I can assure you, that I did the pressure not even realize when I do, totally instinctive, easy like to drink a glass of water.

I blind squonk whether I can see or not. Instead of holding the Reo with the air hole facing away from you, hold the Reo with the air hole facing toward you and at around a 45 degree angle. Squeeze the bottle while you draw on the drip tip. Do not hit the firing button. When you hear a gurgle sound you know that the juice has reached the air hole"s level thus its also reached the coil and wick. Level off the Reo and release pressure off the bottle. Leveling off the Reo is done so that excess juice can now reach the drain hole and be drawn back down into the bottle. Now you can vape.

If you are ever not sure whether to squonk or not just rotate the Reo so the air hole is facing you. Draw on the drip tip without squeezing the bottle. If you do not hear a gurgle you can repeat the procedure from the first paragraph. Its difficult to over squonk using the blind squonk method.

This method works whether your bottle is full or near empty, its dark or light, with thin or thick juice. It probably does not work with headphones on listening to heavy metal music. IF you are sitting on your porch in your rocking chair to make sure a kid doesn't step on your lawn or watching to see if a dog decides to crap on your lawn and you are wearing headphones make sure your volume is low and music such as Perry Como, Liberace, and the Ray Coniff Singers is playing. It will work then because I test it out everyday. Damn kids anyway. Where's this world going.

Happy vaping.

Be advised that warm weather squonking and cold weather squonking are entirely different animals. It's much easier to over-squint when the weather is warm.

Ya, you should see me trying to squonk 90% VG when I'm out skiing all day ........
I used to ski with a carto just to make it easier but thats a road I can no longer travel.

I've been squonking almost 4 years so I can complete the task in any conditions ..... but for newer squonkers depending on the atty you can tip toward the air hole and squonk while drawing air .... once you hear a slight gurgle you know your juice has reached the air hole........ Be sure to tip flat before letting off the bottle so you draw the excess back down and not air.

EDIT: ....... Ooops thats pretty much what LT ^^^ said :)
