Ss cable/rope wicks better. I haven't tried it yet but from everything I read and seem it does.

Depends on the build and type of mech for me. The rope wicks better in most cases though. My favorite is 200 mesh lightly rolled using the petar k method I like it much better than ekowool or cotton over rope.
