Hey, first post here although have used the site for lots of info
I know there is quite a few posts on this subject, but I'm having a tough time and cant quite figure out what im doing wrong so any advice would be hugely appreciated to save my fleeting sanity
So ive watched a ton of videos and read lots of posts on how to make a SS mesh wick and ive had previous success at making silica ones so thought I'd give it a go.
What I used was:
Wire Mesh #400
32 AWG (0.20)
I rolled the mesh using a paper clip, got it to the right size for fitting into the atomiser (so it was fairly snuggish, but slotted in easily) then torch it and quenched it (using ejuice) many times, going slowly and evenly all round.
I wrapped wire on a small screwdriver to make sure all the coils were nice and even, then torched that briefly.
I pushed the wick into the coil (again snuggish but not too tight)
re-built the atomiser, adding a piece of 2mm silca on top of the wick.
Popped it into my V5 and checked the ohm, the results I get back are either it registered 9.9ohm (which it does when there is no atomiser in) and wont fire, registers 0.8ohm and wont fire, the latest one the ohm's jumped around for a bit before settling on 2.8ohm, I popped on the tank, had a few sucks without firing to get the juice going then fired it up. It tasted horrid and burnt, then stopped working.
Ive tried wrapping the coil round the wick 5, 7, and 9 times, this seems to make no difference.
Apologies for the huge post, but is there something glaringly obvious that im doing wrong? im wondering if im not oxidizing properly, rolling the mesh too tight or too loose, or something with my coiling is not right.
Thanks in advance
