Hello,

Is the coolfire iv plus which is non temperature control regulated compatible with stainless steel wire? If so how did you find out? I couldn't find an answer...

Thanks

As long as the resistance of the coil is within the range of the mods capability, then it should be able to fire stainless. I run SS triton coils in wattage mode all the time without issue.

Hope this helps!

ss is usable in wattage modes - i use ss316 coils and ss316 claptons in a number of devices in wattage modes - very clean flavor, great vape - tends to be my preference at this point

I know several people on the site including myself that only use Stainless in power mod and the vape as dcfluegel said is very clean. I've gone as low as .3 with no issues. You will see some fluctuation in your resistance when the coil heats up and cools off but it's normal. Personally I a big fan of the 24ga.

As long as the ohms is above the mod's limit, it will fire.
The only thing you have to make sure about is that your battery can deliver the highest wattage your mod might demand...... is that a fixed battery mod? if so then the battery is already supposed to be right for it.

Sounds awesome!

Does anyone know if ss is superior to kanthal? If so why?

You'll get a lot of different opinions on wire but for me SS just tastes cleaner and my coils last longer. I didn't notice it until MMW mentioned it but the ramp up is also much faster with SS.

Does ss having a faster ramp up in turn mean better wicking? I noticed the isub kanthal coils really struggle with high vg...

It sure does!

And how is the wicking on the triton ss coils, can they handle 80%vg without taking long to warm up?

Here's a link to a great article about all wire types sir. Enjoy the day!

Unfortunately that source is in error regarding the potential of SS leaching only at higher temperatures. Scientific studies clearly show leaching of nickel and chromium in SS cookware at far lower temperatures depending on what's cooked. With acidic foods like tomatoes sauces leaching more. All metals leach depending on the liquid and the temperature. The main question is how much and what.

Recall that the SS wire used in vaping gains resistance as it heats up.

Personally I'll often use SS wire with a VV mod. As the wire heats up the resistance goes up and the amount of current/power drawn goes down and eventually levels off. Sort of a "poor mans TC". Nice vape.

Outside of TC mode most folks use SS wire builds in VW mode. In this mode as the wire heats up (and the resistance goes up) the mod increases the voltage to compensate. The produces a vape with a fairly good heat "ramp" as compared to Kanthal or other non TC wire.
