Hope that everybody that reads the article is leaving a comment. Comment box states (May be published online and/or in print.) If they get enough response, maybe they'll do another story about all of the people that were able to quit smoking with the e-cig.

I really loved his slogan: "You came for the sunshine and citrus. You'll stay for the e-cigarettes."

Overall great piece, but did this bother anyone but me?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration spent several months investigating e-cigarettes. FDA spokeswoman Karen Riley told me the agency has determined e-cigarettes, as well as e-cigars and e-pipes, are "drug device combustion products."
I was just trying to copy that and my server went down. So you saw that too? I thought that cannot possible be a direct "quote" it too stupid.
That's a simplistic statement, but it is not what I would call an intelligent comment to make, primarily because there is NO combustion going on unless somebody lights it with a bic! See, I think we're running into either bad journalism (surprised?) or someone has no command of the English lanuage, but also partly because PV companies have been bending their claims when they call them "healthy" or "quit smoking" or any references to "smoke anywhere" "no harmful"..this might be a little debilitating in a litigation.
Or FDA application for approval. Like diet pill commercials that claim 100% success rates. We should mandate to manufacturers and retailers that any advertising be strictly factual, no flowers and sunshine, but a factual comparison between PV and cigarette. The toxins, the nicotine, the.......combustion, vaporizing. Nice music ok. I see problems here. But overall, the article is positive for the most part.

Kate, I think it was the word "combustion" that caught me off-guard. That was a new one on me. The first time I'd ever seen that word assoatiated with e-cigs.

I wonder if it was a mis-stated quote, or possibly intentionally planted bait for anti ears?

I don't know. My head is full of conspiracy theories after watching the senate all day. Arrrrrr!

"Opponents say the e-cigarette is some perverted mechanism that allows direct inhalation of nicotine, which is addicting. And e-cigs come in flavors, from strawberry to chocolate, raising questions about appealing too obviously to young people."

To which I reply...
I say that cigarettes are some perverted mechanism that allows direct inhalation of nicotine, which is addicting. And tobacco comes in flavors, from strawberry to chocolate, raising questions about appealing too obviously to young people.

I subscribe to the St. Pete Times and I read the article. I thought it was very positive. This is a healthy alternative for those of us who formerly smoked tobacco products and there should be no government interference in this matter. I am still very mindful and considerate of others when I smoke. I go outside at restaurants, unless there is a terrace where you can smoke. I do not feel that non-smokers have any right whatsoever to dictate what someonelse may or may not do. But showing consideration to the selfrighteous sob's removes the argument that smokers puff smoke in their faces and they don't want to be around smokers. These holier-than-thou persons are pushing causes which are so bad that I call it persecution - they don't like heavy people, they don't like smokers, thin people are also unhealthy, blah, blah, blah. To hell with them.
