Stacey, just wondering how you are doing with the doctor's appt. and the water-camel issue? I hope you're OK, and dying to hear results/prognosis...;)

*Imagine, I'm not sure if I placed this post in the proper area, so if you need to move it please feel free. I'm still feeling my way around our new space ;)

Severe Kidney infection and dehydration. I go in Monday for a full fasting blood panel, but he has me on antibiotics and told me to drink plenty of water and gatorade.

Thanks for thinking about me.)

C'mon Stacey. Been to see the Vampire yet? How ya feeling today? I had to go this morning for my checkup blood draw but that's every three months for me.

Yep - WE NEED TO KNOW . . . ;)

Oh and BTW: I do the every 3 month thing too, especially since I do not have to "....." myself everyday to check Blood Sugars (yet) - Thankfully . . . :D

Did the vampire thing this morning. Should have results tomorrow afternoon.)

I will say this..... over my 3 day weekend I took my meds and wasn't to crazy about having neon glowing pee. LOL  But.... I vaped WAY less than I had been. In fact..... Saturday was none. I wasn't as thirsty and was able to pee again...... and again.... and again. ugh!! Today I went back to work and naturally, I grabbed for my Volt more often than I wanted to, but some days are just like that. lol I noticed this evening I was drinking a lot of water again. I switched to Gatorade and it wasn't quite so bad. Anyone who says vaping doesn't dehydrate you...... lies. LOL I don't know how it does it, but it does.

My doctor is researching the whole vaping thing and I have no doubt he will have a report very soon. Also wouldn't be surprised if he is lurking on ECF somewhere. lol

Since I actually had a UTI, Bladder infection AND a kidney infection with no pain (I still find that odd), being dehydrated may not cause the infections..... it definitely contributes or doesn't help things.

I can't wait to hear what he tells me and hope hope hope he doesn't tell me to stop vaping.

After reading everyone's posts on the yucky juices people have tried.... I was watching a bunch of them on youtube last night and several people made many mentions of VG causing dehydration or not liking it or saying they can taste it blah blah. I guess thats what I will be doing for the next few hours...... researching VG/PG. I have no idea what the differences are. Right now I am clueless.

Well, it's just good to know you're taking care of yourself and following doctor's orders Stacey. I felt absolutely no pain with my kidney infection either. I actually thought the doc was secretly trying to get a t my father's excellent insurance at the time. Now I know it does cause no pain, which is strange, and scary.
But again, glad you're doing better. :)

My sister gets them often and she is usually in so much pain I feel sorry for her. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I am not complaining though.)

Glad you're feeling better and I hope that your doc has good news for you. However, I've learned over the years that doctors are not always well-informed or to be trusted 100%. One time I had a doctor diagnose me with a "panic attack", but it turned out that I was simply allergic to ibuprofen! My late husband is "late" because he trusted his doctor too much and was misdiagnosed.

Some basics on PG and VG:

Both are basic components of most eliquids.

PG - propylene glycol - is thinner in viscosity, provides a better throat hit, and effects added flavorings less. Some folks seem to have an allergy to it and resort to VG only nicquids. It is the main component used in fog machines and is frequently used in foods as a base or to prevent freezing (as in ice cream). PG is also a component in asthma inhalers. It was heavily tested for safety back in the 40's and was declared benign at that time. It also has anti-bacterial properties, and was aerolosolized into hospitals to destroy bacteria on surfaces. I have no idea if this practice has continued.

VG - vegetable glycerin - is generally thicker and provides more vapor. It is sweeter in taste. Because it is thicker, it has a tendency to clog cartos faster.

I don't know which of these two can cause the most problems with dehydration, but I had issues when I first started vaping as well. Among other things, it was causing cramps in my calves. As soon as I upped my water intake the issues disappeared.

Rave, I've heard that having extra Vitamin B also helps with the leg cramping too.
And thank you for the useful information. I've read some of it elsewhere on the forums, but since I spend most of my reading time in Voltville, it's very handy to know it's right here ;)
Wow-used as an antibacterial? That's verrry good to know!

Long story in short form.........

Low Potasium

He has me on supplements and told me to keep drinking my water. He said that vaping had nothing to do with any of it, in his opinion. Then pulled out his own e-cig from his pocket. lol I told him he needed to go get a Volt though.

I go back in a couple weeks to be retested but gave me things to look out for and not to under estimate the power of low potassium

Gonna stick with my 50/50. Hasn't done wrong by me yet.)

OMG - That's excellent (That he felt it had nothing to do with vaping, and then pulled out his own!) Great news all around!

Agreed. Glad you are doing fine. LOL, and I'd tell him to get rid of the Njoy stick too!

I have already given up one of my Volts to a friend and I just could NOT make myself give him one. LOL He can go buy his own. LOL He is vaping and doesn't even smoke. LOL He is using it to convince 2 of his nurses to quit smoking. I think its pretty awesome!! I have alot of respect for this man.
