You'll double the voltage to your load and circuitry for sure.

You'll double the voltage across the coil(s), but by doing so, and assuming that the coils can take the current and stay the same resistance, you'll also double the current through coils since voltage / resistance = current.

Cons- there can be a danger in stacking batteries if you don't follow good safety practices.
Generally speaking, stacking batteries is not recommended for use in mods unless the mods (specific regulated mods) have been designed to accept stacked batteries.

Stacking batteries adds some additional risks to your safety if you are not following a specific methodology of matching identical new batteries as a mated pair for life, alternating the order that they are installed in the mod every time, and measuring the voltage after use and coming off the charger. If this practice is not followed diligently, one of the batteries will become weaker than the other and runs the risk of going into thermal runaway.

I wasn't really thinking of doing it. Just curious. Heard people mention it and never had gotten a clear answer as to why it would be desirable. It never really sounded like a wise decision to me.

Gotcha. It adds risk. How much depends on the details. The only time I think anyone had a mod explode in their mouth it was using a stacked set of ICR batteries that had gotten out of tune with each other. At least that's my understanding.

OTOH PVs like the Vamo are designed to run stacked batts and as long as the batteries are good, it should be OK. It still adds a bit of risk though so unless someone knows how to do it safely, it's better to avoid it.

This box mod runs stacked or "in series" 18650s but is designed to do so and must follow the battery usage guidelines that baditude outlined.
