I have been building stainless mesh coils on my RDA (infinite stillaire). It works but doesn't hold alot of juice. Since it can't touch anything metal I find I can only build one that is between 1/4 in and 1/2 inch long, it is thick but I only get like 3 maybe 4 hits out of it, then it tates burnt real bad.

Doesn't matter how much I drip in since it can't absorb what is on the deck.

I like mesh because you can change juice practically instantly. I have added cotton and readywick to the center and yes it holds more juice but I have to clean it if I want to change my juice.

When I started dripping I had a 510 bridgeless atomizer and it was cool since you could change your juice w/ no hassle. i would get a ton of hits off of it before it tasted burned out.

I build my stuff now and have no interest in going back to that but want to create that same experience only better since I am building myself.

I have been wondering if there is some kind of small ceramic or heat resistant glass dish that the wick/coil could sit in, like a tiny puddle of juice.

I did try sticking some cotton underneath to feed the mesh but it wasn't so great.

Any info or ideas would be most welcome.

Thanks

Yeah, the mesh is definitely oxidized. i thought it couldn't touch metal, like in a genesis the wick shouldn't touch the bottom or center post. Is that because the wick is sitting in a tank of juice and it looses its oxidation on those spots?

I would show you a pic but I recently tore it down to experiment. So if I allow the coil to just touch the deck enough to soak up the excess juice on it, its okay as long as the mesh is nice and oxidized?

I am considering getting a magma RDA since it has such a deep well.

But if I can touch the metal my options change and I can build something that suits my needs.

Thank you for your help. I will have to try a new build tonight and test out touching the deck a bit.

Anything else please let me know.

SS mesh bends if you roll it on the diagonal. So you need to cut a diamond* shape out of your sheet instead of a square. When you rotate that piece to look like a square (referencing and rolling from one straight side of the shape you've cut out), the strands should be running at a ~45° angle.

You'll need to pulse the shorts out of your coil/mesh, just like with most mesh wicks. Once pulsed (oxidized) to where your coil is glowing properly, the current never passes to the mesh; nor, consequently, to the atomizer/deck.

* a square, really, but one that is standing on one of it's points instead of sitting on one of it's sides
