Ive been dying to try some tc on my rx200 and i wanted to use stainless vause i was told it was good at watts or tc. Is the stainless at walmart ok to use for this?
What SS wire can you find at walmart? I would stick with ss 316 or 304. your gonna need some in 22g or smaller. I mainly use 26 or 28G.
if its clean and pure ss you could, but with out knowing what your talking about I really couldnt say yay or nay on it.
People at my local shop said its ok i was just curious so im checkin on here.

yup. kinda wish he would post a link to it here... but his local shop said it was good so... Now you gotta wonder if the shop knows exactly what wire he is talking about. IVe seen some shop people that knew SS welding wire works and when they went and got a spool didnt think about it and got flux cored wire.. I would HATE to vape on that.I'd be concerned it may be coated with something .... Wire at Wal-Mart is meant for arts & crafts, not vaping.

Right???We all know counter jockeys at vape shops are experts. Not to be questioned.

This thread looks like it could be dead, but figured I would try here first. And no, I'm not getting my stainless steel wire at wally world.I don't care what anyone says.
I found at place that sells medical grade 316L annealed stainless steel wire in many different gauges. I figure if it's good enough to go in one's body, it good enough to build a coil and vape. A few questions.
1) If it's 316L stainless steel, does that imply it's annealed? Or does it specifically have to say it? I would rather go with an annealed product for obvious reasons: it should be easier to build with.
2) I'm getting a mod that is for ss, ti, ni, and nichrome. I currently have a sx mini m class that I've used for nickel. Can I use the ss wire in wattage mode on my sx mini or is it necessary to use it only in a mod that has temperature control with ss? From what I've read, it appears you can use ss wire without temp control, but I wanted to clarify.
thanks for any replies
316l is only the wire type, doesn't indicate if it's annealed or not. None of my 304 or 316 I have any information on whether it's annealed or not and they're easy to work with. I don't think 3xx stainless steel requires annealing, but I could be wrong.
You can use ss in both vw and tc (and on mechs), which is one of the great benefits with it. I use tc mainly, but in the rare occasions where my coil resistance has gotten unstable for some reason (usually a post screw coming a bit loose) I simply switch over to vw.
