Stainless steel for mods

So i want to make my own mechanical mods (im going to buy my own lathe) but i cant find the stainless steel pipe that i need. Im really new to this so i dont have much of an idea of what im doing. What size id and od do i need? I use 18650's. Is there a certain type of steel i need? Thanks.

Shower handles, hot tub handles... try a pool store.

also, try a professional kitchen supply store, most will sell to the general public and there are a lot of things that can be hacked together from there.

Why do you want to use Stainless? SS is a difficult material to machine, the higher the chromium the more difficult it becomes to cut.
Consider copper, its easier to machine, has better conductivity, and comes in the sizes you need.
Check out Mac Master-Carr for materials... they have EVERYTHING for prototyping/designing...

As stated above - Stainless can be a hard(er) material to work with, especially if you don't have any experience with machining it.

It may be in your best interest to start with a material that's a little more forgiving. Otherwise, you may find yourself very frustrated and your wallet a little lighter too.

Sthur, that looks neat, but im more into wanting to make my own mods from scratch, meaning make all of it from a solid metal rod.
