I see the SS mesh used in CE2 type cartos and used as the wick for a home made atty. If you were to make a standard style carto and use stainless steel mesh as the 'tube' of filler would it just flood out because of the gravity feed?

SS does not absorb juice, it is held in the holes in the mesh, if the holes are to small you get very little volume "drips", if the holes are to big the surface tension is overcome by gravity and the juice falls out. I have tried many meshes and shapes until I lucked into the filters and shaping them into bonuts. At first I rolled them into torpedoes and inserted them vertical and tried to but one right on the bridge. For some reason the Bonut works and I am happy vaping as I drive.
Any type of dripping increases the chance of leaking, if you fear leaking take the atty off the battery while you drip, blow through it into a paper napkin to remove any excess and reinstall on battery. Even a saturated cart will cause leaking. The Bonuts do not increase leaking anymore than just plain dripping, probably reduces it if only because you drip less often.
