There are too many variables unless you specify the build. First, you cannot choke the wick: it must be thin enough to slide in and out of the wick hole with relative ease. Second, it can very well be that the coil is bad.

By hole, i assume you mean the center channel when you roll the wick. The answer is none: there should not be a center channel. Having a center hole in your wick can create many problems including washbacks of gunks and spitting of juice due to pressure.

I use 28 gauge kenthal wire. 3/4 wrap around SS Mesh 400 on Z Atty Pro.
My mod is ProVari.
It used to hit pretty good meaning lot of smoke and working whenever used.
Recently, even though the wick and wire are both new installed, it barely gives smoke. Also, the taste becomes burned after 2nd hit. the juice is the same juice as before an battery life is 3.9.
The reading of the wire is 1.2 ohm and I hit it at 3.9 v.
Is there something I'm missing, what could be wrong. It's so aggravating.

Thanks a lot for the help. So at least not I know I messed up on having a whole in the middle of the wick. also it doesn't slide in and out of the wick hole on the Rba as easy. I thought that would make the leaking less when leaving the device horizontally.

Have you checked for hot spots? Are you choking the wick? Are you tilting? How is your coil glowing when dry burning?

- yes. No hot spots. Otherwise ProVari would give error.
- I did choke the wick. Fixed it and still was the same. Not leaving the wire barely touching the wick but around it.
- glowing is even and nice for all 3/4 wrap.

Thanks

without firing tilt the atty so the juice actually comes down the wick and almost drips off the wick. sometimes this will break the vacuum as the z atty wicks and hole are small and the fill/airhole is pretty tight.
also with the z atty a general rule on the first tank is 2/3 or less full until the wick breaks in.

is this one of the prerolled wicks?

besides that if you rolled your own wicks make sure the grain in the wick is running top to bottom,
when you look at a fresh piece you can see like a woodgrain running in one direction more then the other, a bit harder to notice on 400

other then that is the juice the same? and have you thought of going to 500.

one thing you can do is unroll the old wick and see how much they used.

Most important thing to prevent hot spot is not letting the wire cut into the wick. It must only lightly touch the wick and no more than that. No less either.

Most important thing for an effective wick is not choking the wick. It must slide in and out of the wick hole (and the coil) with ease. No thin is always better than too thick.
