Stainless Steel vs Black Chrome Vamo...?

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to buy the new Vamo; upgrading from a Young June Lavatube in Black Chrome. It seems to be one hell of an APV for the money, and the fact that you can stack 16350's or use a single 18650 or even a single 350 is amazing. The Lavatube I'm using now was great at first, but now it just isn't powerful enough to deliver the throat hit I desire. From what I've gather it's due to the limitations of the 18650 which basically means that 6 volts is no more powerful than 4.5. Stacking will eliminate this limitation which should get me the throat hit I'm looking for.

Now here's where I'm perplexed. I really like the look of the Black Chrome on my lavatube, but am afraid that the finish on the Vamo will wear off over time (as I've seen elsewhere on the forum here). I like the Stainless too, but not as much as the Black. Is the new Stainless version actually solid Stainless Steel, or does it have a coating/finish like the Black Chrome. Any input from owners of either would be appreciated.

It's solid stainless, unlike the black chrome, which is brass underneath. The Vamos has a voltage booster which means you shouldn't see much difference between stacked 350's vs. a single 650. That being said I did notice a difference, and I went back to the 650, I wanted something a little less "hot".

I'm already at 2.4mg with a mainly PG blend, so I can't get any stronger in the throat hit deparment via Juice. I've used it in my buddies APV with stacker batteries and did notice a rather big difference at 6 volts so hoping that this Vamo delivers a similar experience. I guess the worst case scenario is that it couldn't hurt to have a backup APV at this price regardless if the hit is any stronger or not. Also it looks like I"ll be getting the black chrome now since Stainless went OOS at the place I was going to order (Exhale)...so unless I can find another USA vendor with the Stainless for around the same price I'll be going with the Black.

Just a heads-up, I don't believe the 18650 was limiting you with your Lavatube. The LT has. 2.5A limit, so if you go past a certain voltage on an LR carto or tank, you may not be hitting the voltage limit but you may be hitting the current limit.

Sorry, should have clarified a littler further. I have the YJ lavetube with the higher amp limit (I believe it's 3.2 or 3.5 A) so I shouldn't be hitting the limit even with a 1.5 DCC tank. If I was I believe it's supposed to shut off or automatically switch to a voltage that the Amperage can handle?

It doesn't really switch it per se, but internally it just won't fire any higher than the voltage that hits the amp limit. It won't adjust the display to indicate what that voltage is, either.

Hmm, well something was certainly holding it back so that's the most likely explanation. My new SS Vamo is tearing my up delightfully with its 5A powerhouse even at 5.5V. Extremely happy with the purchase, especially for the pricepoint.
