Stardust Coil Head

dear fellow vapers,

I would like to find out how often do you change the coil head of stardust?

I was cleaning it and realized that the wick has turned black, thought of changing the coil head or there are ways to just change the wick?

Normal usage with cleaning will last about 3-4 weeks for me. Re-wicking of the stardust depending on which version is almost the same as rewicking the vivi nova .

yes .. in case you fail just buy a new coil head will do lol. from my opinion. coil head is always changeable

Why has the wick turned black ? Is it becos the voltage setting was too high. It is normally the case.

Your stardust is it the exchangable type ? If it so, then of course you can change the coil head.

But you will always get the burnt wick if you cannot control your PV volt output.

What is the present resistance of your coil head ?

hi bro.. your reply really interest me. i'm getting ego twist soon. which i might need some advice.. voltage setting too high will result in wick getting burnt ? if thats true can i know how do we prevent that from happening ? .. please advice thanks.

First find out the resistance of the coil head of your clearomizer. It is there on the coil head. I would think 1.8 ohms would be too low. When you get the replacement order the 2.4 ohms.

If you are getting ego c twist battery then perhaps you might want to consider getting 2.8 ohms coil head. The ego c twist at between 4 - 4.2 watts firing a 2.8 ohms resistance coil head would be good.

In any case a burnt wick will give you a burnt flavor.

currently the resistance of the coil head is 1.8 ohms. the stardust is V3 version, so i guess the coil head is changeable.

1.8 ohms .... no wonder you are getting burnt wick

As a DIYer, I rebuild primarily the Vision Stardust and Vision Viv novas. If you don't mind the silica (the original wick that comes with these) you can "dry burn" them after cleaning. There are many threads on this and on youtube. It's normal that they get "crudy" after some time of use.

I am not too sure but i think the original wicks are fiberglass. For re wicking we use silica as it can withstand heat better .

Ah! Thanks for that! Fiberglass, silica.. whatever it is it's not for me Prefer 100% cotton square-braid candle wicks myself. They last as long as everything else "store bought" and give me a smoother vape.

There have been a few reports of people getting silica stuck in their throat from vaping. Cotton is softer (hehe)

Yes, mine are all interchangable. The actual coil looks identical in the Stardust, the vivi nova mini, and the vivi nova tank. The silicon seal that covers the coil in the Stardust is a bit different than the other two. I've heard there are fakes, so I can't tell you about those.

That's been my experience, yes. I don't clean it unless the taste starts to "fade" Also the darkening can be your fluid. sweet fluid seems to darken the wick and coil faster than other fluids.

Do it at your own risk. They are ill fitting. Vapor flows back in . My worth

Make sure that are all VISION.. not those cheap fakes!
The Vision vivi nova tank, Vision Stardust, and vision vivi nova mini heads are all interchangeable.
I've had no problems with fitting, personally.

Lookup for pbusardo video on youtube regarding the rebuilding of vivi heads. He is rebuilding the head for the vivi nova which is basically the same as the stardust. I have both and interchange them often when i rewick the heads with cotton threads bought from daiso lol.I have yet to try using cotton braided candle wicks as soon as i find a local shop which supplies it.

Oh and don't forget that with rebuilding, you must have a multimeter to test for any shorts first before using it on your PV.
